What a good find! We stayed here for 10 nights and were certainly not disappointed! Such a lovely building situated just off La Rambla away from the main hustle and bustle. Initially quite hard to find as the entrance is very small however this is the only fault I can think of. Clean, modern, well equipped and spacious. The staff... More

Great hotel. Initial problem at check in was dealt with quickly and professionally. Staff all very friendly and standards throughout the hotel very high. Excellent location with added bonus of quiet swimming pool terrace with enough beds to go round. Exceptionally well presented breakfast with generous opening times. Very high standards of customer service. Will definitely return the next time... More

We stayed in Porta del Angel 4. It is a bit tricky to find but so well located, just off busy Las Ramblas. That is just about all I can say in its favour. There is a stale cigarette smell as soon as you enter. What upset me most was the terrible plumbing. The shower as well as the bath,... More

The hotel is a modernised old building, and has a lot of charm. Clean, modern rooms and a very good breakfast. Pool itself is a bit small, but the pool area in general was nice to relax in between shopping. Centrally located, and yet not in the middle of noisy Las Ramblas. Near Placa Catalunya, shopping in portal de l'angel... More

This hotel was perfect for a 3-day stay in Barcelona. The room was not large, but it was modern and well-appointed with a roomy and private terrace that overlooked the interior courtyard. The location is near the Plaza de Catalunya at the edge of the Old City and Eixample. You can walk everywhere and there are great shops, restaurants and... More

We flew in late and were getting the train to Girona the next morning so we wanted somewhere central and comfortable. Checking in and out were simple and straightforward, staff were very helpful. On the way out we had a very nice chat in Spanish with the receptionist. Room at the back so no view or balcony but it was... More

The hotel is an old building that has been modernised whilst maintaining some of the atmosphere, especially in the stairways. The location is perfect for a short stay; step outside the door and you are in a large pedestrianised street with a huge selection of shops. Placa Catalunya is 100 metres away; easy walking distance for the airport bus. The... More

Ideal location near shopping, metro, restaurants and all the action without keeping you up at night. I love this area, there's something to see around every corner! The staff is professional, the building is clean and tasteful. It's a nice place but you probably won't remember it (good or bad) nor will you remember over paying - not cheap but... More

Staying in Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)

Neighborhood Profile
Barrio Gotico (Barri Gotic)
With its iconic, old-Europe streets and alleys, this picturesque neighborhood is the very heart of Barcelona. It blends historic artifacts from its days under Roman dominion up through the Spanish Civil War with a vibrant modern-day culture of artisan shops and authentic culinary experiences. Avid explorers will be thrilled to discover quaint terraces and plazas brought to life by the many small bars and local musicians lasting late into the night. Fashionistas will be drawn to Portal de L’Angel, which is lined with well-known brand names and smaller boutique stands.
