I booked this place based on the tripadvisor reviews, and I agree both about the location (good) and about the noise (almost unbearable). If you're a non-smoker, you're really stuck, since only the 1st floor is non-smoking. You are basically *in* the traffic. My wife and I (both seniors) stayed at the BW San Polo in late April 2005. The hotel is superbly located for a walking tour of old Salamanca. The room was very clean, well-appointed, adequately sized, and reasonably priced (80.30 euros incl. bkfst). The breakfast was clearly above average, with hot eggs and meat. The San Polo is a modern hotel built within old church ruins. The fact the it's modern allows you the comfort you expect. The ruins of the Saint Paul church that are integrated with the hotel and the nice patio give it a very pleasant atmosphere.
