We have stayed in a number of paradors during our time in Spain, and been impressed by the friendly, helpful staff but frankly, this was the least impressive. The building itself was stunning, however the service at reception was efficient but impersonal and not at all friendly. We ate dinner in the restaurant, and it was nothing spectacular, we waited... Stunning building. We spent a whole day inside the hotel just exploring its treasures, rooms, paintings and gardens. It was a former building of the Order of Santiago and a pilgrim's shelter, which makes it very special. The choir stalls in the church are a masterpiece of woodcarving. Even though it's now a fancy hotel, you get discounts if you... More

We have stayed in half a dozen paradors and this is our favourite. It is a really stunning building. I'd recommend a room in the the old part of hotel to enjoy the experience to the full. A wise old traveller once told us that paradors had the best bathrooms and the worse food. This is the one that broke... More

Last time we stayed at Canga de Onis which was perfect and hard to beat - this time we went inland and discovered this magical spot in Leon! Such an easy drive from Santander, driving was a dream on the wide open new roads with sat nav. The hotel is stunning and architecturally and historically very interesting, with an excellent... First night into a two night stay, we found an old napkin from room service on the corner of the bed from a previous guest. We also found broken glass under the vanity in the bathroom. I have photographs of both. I expect basic cleaning to be a basic expectation in any hotel, especially one with the reputation of the... More

Mr. Damon B. I would like to apologies for the inconveniences caused during your stay. As you may know this is not normal in our property. We do take very good note of your comments in order to act on those. Cleanliness in one of our core values. We are in an historical building and in some cases age does... More

Situated near the river with a very long tree lined walk alongside going through a very well maintained Park area. The building is fascinating with a beautiful courtyard and plenty of information panels positioned for visitors to view. Reception area is amazingly adapted to such an old property, as are all the common areas. Food selection was comprehensive, and catered... More

This parador is exceptional. You could spend the day visiting the hotel! Extraordinary Courtyard . Take in the History of the Building and be transform back in time. Wonderful breakfast at the restaurant . Our room had a beautiful view of the pedestrian bridge. Its a unique stay that you will remember always.

This must be one of the largest Paradors in Spain sited in this wonderful Monastery. Large yet retaining all the qualities of the smaller more intimate Paradors this hotel is a must if you are staying in Leon. The situation is majestic and the rooms are large and well appointed. We didn't use the restaurant other than for breakfast which... More

The hotel is located on the river but is a longish walk to the city center and most sites. There is parking on the side of the building (do not drive on the square.) The public spaces are stunning. Explore the building--you can even access the attached church. The rooms and halls are worn; I hope the investment is made... More

I surprised my partner with a night here and the views of the entire square and the foot bridge at night & day were immense. The history can be heard just walking through the corridors and grounds of the Parador. The mini tour which led into the church was very informative and definitely worth doing after breakfast (its free too).... More
