We spent three nights at this hotel in August. Its in a good location near the older part of the city. We loved this city for its buildings, restaurants, and shopping. The hotel was comfortable and our room was fine. We especially liked the furniture and décor in the lounge area. Breakfast was good and well presented. The Hotel car... More

It is obvious that this hotel has known much better times, as it is located in a very good area and the decoration looks luxurious but totally out of date. The staff is very kind and compensates the fact that rooms are very weary, not as clean as expected, just enough to get by. The design of the bathroom is... More

One of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Look carefully at the photos, they are deceiving. Bathroom had mold encrusted in all corners and had black fungus growing out of the "jets". Linens were dirty and rough. Boutique basically means what they did with old church furniture. Our room had an intense smell that reminded me of being... More

Pretentious kitsch in an 80's building...internet not working propererly, old beds that lost all toughness, thin walls, feels mega-dated. Things work, do not get me wrong, yet it is not any close to 4 stars it claims to be, 1 star at best. Aestethically disasterous. Choose something else if you can.

This 4⭐️ hotel, in my humble opinion, is definitely overrated. Although it was perfect for me as a solo traveller, the decor and rooms are a we bit dated. I expected a mini bar in the rooms for a hotel of such star rating. The breakfast was not of a 4⭐️ rating and was very plain. The hotel restaurant never... More

On a group tour to Santiago de Compostella, we spent 3 terrible nights at this hotel. Don't be deceived by the public rooms - the bedrooms are shabby, badly designed, and some like cupboards. When sitting on the toilet, you had your chin in the washbasin! Water pressure is non-existent. We had one dinner there and the meat had been... More

I'm on my third Camino de Santiago and decided to treat myself to this so-called 4-star hotel. What a joke! They advertise air-conditioning but mine wasn't working, so I went to explain this to reception and they simply responded there isn't any. When I mentioned that Booking.com said there was, the guy just shrugged his shoulders, "no hay" which means... More

There is no way this hotel merits 4 stars, it makes a bit of a mockery out of the star system. We had dirty glasses in our room, a really small double bed, even though there was enough room to have a bigger bed, the bed mattress was too soft, we had 2 giant sausage pillows instead of 4 individual... Very close to the touristic old town and grand cathedral. Unlike southern Spain, most of the north lacks English support for tourists : language, TV, menus. This hotel included. The basics are there but not well executed. Food is average. The staff handle multiple duties. Management seems lacking.

When I booked this four-star hotel, I arrived with expectation based on other four-star hotels at which I've stayed. They may share the basic criteria of other such hotels, but everything they do is according to the lowest possible standards. The two major problems with the Fernan Gonzalez is that the wifi in my room alternated between a weak and... More
