It is an amazing place. We adore Spain. We love so much their attitude to their history. It is so close to you. You can LIVE it, you can HEAR it, you can TASTE it, you can FEEL it. The parador itself (as a part of the castle dated back to the 14-15th century) is the very centre of Oropesa.... more

Had heard lots of mixed things about the Paradors, so wasn't sure what to expect. This one is a little off the beaten track, but worth the trip. The rooms were fun--sort of a throwback. The pool was amazing...good size, just exactly what my kids and their parents needed. The building itself is very cool--it's attached to a castle, so... more

Another outstanding Parador building in a castle/mansion built overlooking the plains that lie beneath the Gredos Mountains, about 90 minutes motorway drive SW from Madrid. Oropesa village itself is not overwhelmingly interesting, but there are historic buildings, bars and restaurants. Being Sunday night the options for eating the town were limited and not especially inviting, so we opted for the... more

This is a magestic parador! The location is superb & the common rooms fantastic. You really feel like the king & queen of the castle! It was almost empty when we were there & we had the swimming pool to ourselves! The staff were very attentive & friendly. The food was great & we would recommend that you sit in... more

We stayed at the parador, the first night of our Easter break in central Spain. Its location, over looking the mountains and the village is one of the best. Both the rooms and other areas of the parador, are comfortable and very welcoming. But the biggest plus, we found was how helpful and friendly the staff were. We plan on... more

The cliché is that a man's home is his castle...literally so in Oropesa. The Parador is easily located off the main highway between Madrid and Trujillo (but not close enough to hear any traffic in the distance). The history of the castle is long--originally built in the mid 1300s and restored in 1400s--and has been a place of rest in... more

Attended a wedding with my wife. A very beautiful hotel with good sized rooms. Cost just under 400euro for 3 nights(breakfast 13.50 extra) - I thought this was a little excessive given the remote location but was well worth it for the quality of hotel. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Our room was a very good size with a modern... more

This parador is excellent apart from the evening meal, which was not brilliant, but adequate. Compared to other Paradors we felt the food lacked imagination. Breakfast, however, was first class as in all Parador's. The room was great with all facilities and the hotel is in a pretty village about 40 - 60 miles from Madrid. more

Hotel can be seen from motorway but on entering the narrow village streets it disappears from sight, few clear direction signs and was quite fun trying to find. Outside really impressive as are the public rooms inside. Restaurant is good although many of the choices were similar or same as Parador we stayed in the previous two nights. Staff very... more
