We stayed for two nights as part of a deal with Brittany Ferries. The hotel takes one back into the earlier days of beautiful furnishings and comfortable accommodation from the early 20th century. It is not for those who appreciate the minimalist style. We greatly enjoyed the marble floors, lovely terraces and mahogany woodwork, as well as the original light... More

We just spent 5 nights at the hotel Real and couldn't fault it. Our room was on the fourth floor, on the side, overlooking the beach and sea and we never tired of looking at the wonderful view from our small balcony. Bedroom was large and furnished in old furniture which suited the building. There was lots of storage space, a... More

The real is an old style 5 star hotel living in the past. Poor service standards and run down in desperate need of a makeover/update it is not even 4 star. No wifi in rooms, antiquated bathrooms and poor air con It is a twenty minute walk to town and a definite taxi ride back. A great shame for what... More

This old historic hotel overlooking the bay was perfect. The views from the back of the hotel with your balcony were spectacular. The bedrooms were extremely large with old Edwardian furniture which suited the rooms. Bathroom was good but maybe needing updated (avocado colour went out in the 80's!! However great power shower double sinks separate toilet really couldn't fault... More

The hotel has spectacular view over the coastal line and provides easy access to the city center. The quality of service provided by its staffs was very satisfactory starting from my first encounter with the front dest staffs. I felt like at home from the beginning. Even though may of its facilities are old, all of them fuctioned perfectly and... More

This old world hotel has the potential to be first class. Beautifully positioned overlooking the bay, lots of elegant public rooms, quiet with Edwardian gentility BUT not a welcome just a quick look at a passport and the directions to the lift take your own cases, nothing in the room to say welcome ( on the second day a free... I see from some of the reviews that there has been a little dissatisfaction with the bathroom fittings, well not only were we upgraded to a room at the front with a simply magnificent view of the mountains and sea.. but the bathroom had just been brought into the 21st century. Being of a certain age group I loved the... More

This an old, historic building set on top of a hill overlooking the ocean. It has spectacular views, especially if you happen to snare one of the rooms at the back. Service was good if a bit chaotic on arrival. They had mixed up the keys but thankfully our tour director was able to quickly sort it out. Not all... More

It's simple - this hotel is too far and too old to warrant anything better than average rating (and I only paid 150 EUR). The staff is also lazy for what you would normally pay. Big set of steps at entrance and no one to be found (and I don't use help with my bags anyway on principle, but should... More

Beautiful iconic building...you can see it for miles from the Ferry!! Obviously the place to stay in years gone by...the old fashioned lift is from times gone by. Unfortunately so is some of the bedrooms furniture and bathroom fittings! Rooms and bathroom fixtures and fittings may need some updating eventually... However, the hotel is pet friendly and has on site... More
