We only needed one night's stay off the ferry before our drive down to Portugal. The Hotel was certainly not as faded as some reviewers reported, although the stair carpet was a bit threadbare in places. We loved the decor and feel of old world quality in the public areas and restaurant, and the dinner in the restaurant was excellent.... More

My favorite hotel we go regularly using it to stay when we arrive into Santander on our way through to Marbella and then on our return if possible. It is not a cheap hotel but the room food service staff make it a must to visit and if possible stay. The views are stunning as it is easly found - seen... More

Neal S from London who reviewed directly before me took the words out of my mouth: this is not a deluxe property but nevertheless offers a wonderful experience. Hotel Real is classy without any pretension (pretty much how I'd described the city of Santander as a whole). It has an excellent central location where you can get into town quickly... More

This is not a five star establishment in the sense of being a super luxury hotel with swanky furnishings and televisions in the bathrooms. Some of the finish is a little tired and you are not going to be tripping over staff rushing to take your bags, However, the hotel has loads of character, the rooms are large and tastefully... More

Stayed here for two nights in November. Ample parking at the front, no help with our bags, but although this is a five star hotel we had by no means paid a five star rate to stay here so this didn't bother us. The reception staff could not have been more helpful. We arrived earlier than the advertised check in... More

This hotel is in a fantastic location and it loves up to its "Real" name. We had a amazing suite in a corner position overlooking the bay and headland. Our suite lounge area was twice as large as most hotel bedrooms. Dinner was excellent which was a great start to our car Club's tour. The only downside was that we... More

Welcome ok. Room had a lovely view. Room could have done with a little updating decorating wise. Breakfast was very pleasant for a buffet style, although I would have liked not to have got my coffee from a machine, it's nice to have coffee bought to your table. Food took a while to get restocked at peak times. Staff were... More

We stayed for two nights as part of a deal with Brittany Ferries. The hotel takes one back into the earlier days of beautiful furnishings and comfortable accommodation from the early 20th century. It is not for those who appreciate the minimalist style. We greatly enjoyed the marble floors, lovely terraces and mahogany woodwork, as well as the original light... More

We just spent 5 nights at the hotel Real and couldn't fault it. Our room was on the fourth floor, on the side, overlooking the beach and sea and we never tired of looking at the wonderful view from our small balcony. Bedroom was large and furnished in old furniture which suited the building. There was lots of storage space, a... More

The real is an old style 5 star hotel living in the past. Poor service standards and run down in desperate need of a makeover/update it is not even 4 star. No wifi in rooms, antiquated bathrooms and poor air con It is a twenty minute walk to town and a definite taxi ride back. A great shame for what... More
