We spent three nights in this hotel, I knew the neighbourhood (El Sardinero) which is the best area of the city, it is very calm with emblematic buildings. You are very close to the seafront which makes walks pleasant to the Palacio de la Magdalena. Service was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was served till 10.30 was just uncomfortable to... More

I stayed here for 5 nights as part of a very large conference group who were using several of the function/meetings rooms. I was most underwhelmed by the whole experience and would be very neutral about return again to this hotel. The experience was not bad, but there was nothing special about the place or the service. Certainly I would... More

We were unfortunate to have been invited last night to a catered dinner. The food was absolutely disgusting: 5 course meal and everything was inedible (not just me - we were 12 at the table, and plates were returned uneaten). First course, "capon with honey dressing" - dried out chicken breast, a bit of salad from a bag - NO seasoning... More

We stayed here for 2 nights on a Brittany Ferries holiday. We did not know quite what to expect, and were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel was lovely, staff were very pleasant and helpful. Our rooms on the seventh floor were very nice, lovely bathroom, spacious with a bit of a view of the sea and the lovely casino building.... More

This hotel is in a great location, half a block from the beach and close to sea-side cafes. The staff were friendly and helpful, but the rooms are somewhat dated, and wi-fi weakens in the evenings for some reason.

My wife and I stayed at the Santemar for a full week recently. The hotel facilities are excellent with all rooms fully equipped with all manner of gadgets. The décor throughout the public areas of the hotel is impressive but cold in appearance and therein lies the Santemar's Achilles Heel. As with many "chain" hotels the staff lack any expressions... There were quite a number of people on this trip who had done it before, including someone who was doing it for their seventh time, which gives you an idea of how good it is. Sardinero has fabulous beaches and parks and bars and restaurants and the casino. The coach trips were all very good. The journey back was not... More

The hotel is nearby of the most glamorous and historic parts of the city but far away from the city center. You will need to walk around 20 minutes to reach there or get a taxi. The Disco in the basements is ok in weekends but the liveliest places are in the city center. I would recommend it for people... More
