This was our first visit to Santander and we could not have been staying in a better location! My husband and I travelled as foot passengers on Brittany ferries and took a taxi to the hotel. (We did walk into the centre during the week and it is a lovely walk, but better to take a taxi with luggage.) The... More

Overlooking Sardinero Beach. 2 mins to the Casino and the centre. 5 mins on the bus to Santander. This is traditional hotel. No frills, no facilities, no car parking Serious olde worlde charm. Really friendly staff. Lots of wood, ornate staircases and antiques. No lift (which cud definitely be a problem for some as it also has steps up to... More

This is one of the most charming hotels I have ever stayed in. Note, not the most luxurious, spacious, modern, etc. but one of the most charming. It's perfect for a stay in the city of Santander. The word 'quaint' isn't in my vocabulary. In my view this hotel is better described as traditional. The entire premises is traditionally decorated... More

We have been staying at Carlos III for some 25 years before and after our long car journey to the South East of Spain. We also spent a week there to enjoy Santander and the wonderful beaches. When our children were young, we were initially introduced to Carlos III by the Spanish tourist office in Santander. This year we took... More

I have just spent a week at this quaint hotel, the staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help you. You should learn basic Spanish if you are here for a while as English is spoken very little but everyone is friendly and will try to talk to you. If you intend to see some of... More

We stayed here in a family room for 2 nights before we caught the ferry back home. It is a great hotel; spotlessly clean, very welcoming and packed full of understated old world charm. The hotel breakfast was perfectly judged (simple but satisfying) and politely served. Notwithstanding the nostalgic charm of the hotel the wi-fi signal was great with good... More

The hotel is family run and it shows.Situated across the road from the beach in the Sardinero area of Santander. The room was very clean and the en- suite spotless, we also had a balcony with a sea view. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. Only bed and breakfast is available but it was very good, there... More

I booked 2 rooms for myself and some friends who were driving from Madrid to spend the weekend. The hotel is situated across the street from the beach surrounded by several 'luxury' hotels. Carlos III has great character, the staff was very helpful & accommodating, the rooms were very clean and the price (off season) was unbeatable. I even had... More

The hotel was originally a holiday villa for 19 century Spanish & retains all its features & charm. It was like staying at somebody's home with perfect care & comfort. Everything was within walking distance (beach just across the road, shops, bars, restaurants a few minute's walk) & Santander itself just a 5 minute drive away with its shops &... More
