Just returned from a week exploring Northern Spain and wanted an experience of city as well as rural life. Aire de Ruesga is tucked high up in the mountains in the village of Mentera. The drive up to the village was a series of winding bends and you immediately get the sense that this really is an out of the... More

what an amazing way to end our holiday! until arriving at this hotel, we'd been to bilbao and santander and found a lot of people to dislike the english, and as i'd only learnt spanish and not basque i think it irritated the locals even more. The weather had been rubbish and my partner had been Ill so we were... More

A great start to our holiday - 2 nights in a peaceful, friendly hotel. Came from the Santander ferry, easy travelling. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and clean, and food plentiful. We booked half board - an extremely reasonable price, including wine, and with plenty of choice, even when we were the only residents!... More

My husband and I were fortunate to stay at this hotel for two nights. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful with advice on activities available locally. The room was spacious and clean and we really enjoyed the location in the mountains, the great food provided and the hospitality. We thought it was excellent value and located in... More

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Aire de Ruesga for two nights after a lovely drive over the mountains from the ferry at Santander, we had a warm welcome from the owner and his three lovely dogs, our room was very nice with a four poster bed, all clean and tidy. The owner spoke excellent English and nothing was... More

We stayed here for 1 night before catching the Santander ferry, and wished that we had planned to stay a few nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful and our room was very spacious and clean. We had a lovely balcony where we could enjoy the fantastic views. We spent a couple of hours admiring the countryside and views... More

A wonderful situation for spending the first night after arriving at bilbao or Santander by ferry. The owners are charming and very accomodating and the evening meals are great with plenty of choice. Breakfast outside on the terrace with the ever changing views of the mountains made our stay. The lovely pool overlooking the wonderful view is a great plus... More

We arrived after a long day and were greeted by the owner and 3 huskies - all 4 were very friendly. The room was spacious and comfortable, the only negative was the shower was very small. The owner is the chef and obligingly brought dinner forwards so we could eat earlier than he had planned, but nothing was too much... More

The owners and staff are perfect hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Just ask and they try their bestest to provide. We found ourselves just rushing back from our day trips just to chill around the hotel....home from home! Do have dinner here in the evenings, the locally sourced ingredients are purchased daily and expertly prepared and presented. Even thought... More

We spent 4 nights in this beautiful place tucked up in the hills and less than an hour's drive from the ferry port of Santander also within striking distance of Bilbao and many beautiful sandy beaches...a perfect place to start our Spanish holiday. We ate breakfast and dinner every day on the terrace with breathtaking views of the mountains. Our... More
