I love this place, so glad I found it. It's full of character and oozes history. A real retreat from the touristy places. The staff are as full of character and charm as the hotel is. One of the most interesting and pleasant hotels I think I have stayed in. If your looking for standard hotel luxury it may not... More

As a fan of all things vintage, I was pleased with Hotel Madrid. The staff were friendly and real characters, very helpful and very, very busy. There was not hot water 24/7, and this is not the place if you're into the slick, modern and high-tech. But places like this are hard to find -- relish it while it lasts.... More

If you want to stay somewhere authentic and charming during your visit to Las Palmas, this is the place to be. Situated right next to the shopping area of Triana and the historic original heart of the city, this is an ideal location for many. Not only does the hotel still ooze the atmosphere of many decades ago, it even... More

What a fantastic peaceful hotel Not far from old town Las Palmas. This is a basic extremely clean hotel, situated between the main shopping street Triana and the old town. It's excellent location covers a range of interests, museums , shopping, restaurants and it is surrounded by fabulous buildings. The beach is a short taxi trip away. The hotels kitchen offers... Hola Charming place but food far from good. Service is slow and unfriendly. But good wine and very good location. I can highly recommend the place just don't eat there. Been here many times over the years in hope of improvements and remember when using the restrooms the light switch is 6 feet from the floor?

Was recommended to go here for lunch from our hotel! We enjoyed a lovely, reasonably priced 3 course lunch outside in the piazza. Customer service was excellent, and we were made to feel very welcome indeed. This hotel is steeped in history, and is relatively 'untouched' by the progress of time. We will be back!

Enjoyed a "Menu del Dia" on an outside table overlooking a lovely Plaza. Whilst the food is only reasonable and the service "brisk" it is not to be missed with its history - the interior is the same as when Franco stayed. Recommend

We only visit restaurant for lunch. Menu del dia for price of 12 euro. Just ordinary food, but most important is the historic interiors. Oldest hotel at Gran Canary. Take a drink in the bar or sit in the small dining room and feel the atmosphere. General Franco had his last night here at room nr 3 before he started... More

Don't miss out on this gem of a hotel. The food is very reasonable and the drinks are great. The staff are a joy and the place is very popular with all sorts of local people. This is a serious boozer. Make it part of your itinerary like Franco did but please, unlike him, pay your ( very reasonable) bill.

Whether you like this hotel will, of course, depend on what you want. We wanted a 'real' Spanish hotel and found a great example here. Booking – the hotel is not on any of the usual sites can be booked by email with the aid of Google translate as required. Arrival – the airport bus stops at San Telmo bus... More
