We had a great room at the Hotel Maria Christina! It was a massive room, very clean and spacious. It was centrally located that we walked everywhere, never needing a taxi. The staff was extremely helpful and spoke English well. The only drawback is that it needs to be refreshed a bit, it needs a bit of a makeover. But... more

The room we had was big and well appointed but it took eight minutes to get warm water in the shower in the morning which is not the way to start a day. While the staff keeps things clean their was no one who had much to offer in the way of directions or dinner suggestions. It is a lovely... more

We were quite disappointed in this hotel, especially since it's called a luxury hotel and has a 5 star rating. It has a great location, I'll give it that, right next to the center of the town and the old part. Here are the not-so-luxurious facts: it took us about 10 minutes of waiting outside by the curb before someone... more

When you are traveling with a canine, sometimes hoteliers treat you like a second-class guest. Not at the Maria Cristina -- for our Christmas-time stay we were given a beautiful and enormous room with views of the river, as well as tips for where to walk the dog (there is a plaza just outside the hotel with green space for... more

This is the 2nd time I have visited this hotel. It is a very grand old hotel. However it has grand "old air-conditioning"! The hotel is a very beautiful building and it is wonderful, both from and internal and external perspective. The staff are very professional. The car-Parking is at a public car-park next to and beneath the hotel. for... more

The location of this hotel is amazing! It is moments from the old part of town, which has a multitude of places to eat out in. It is also a short stroll to the beach. The hotel is beautiful from the outside and we were assigned a large room with a lovely view. I did not especially like the furnishings... more

The excellence of Maria Cristina starts with its umbeatable location, close to the Old Town and its famous pintxos bars. Our room was great, with a bit of a sea view, as well as river and the modern Palacio de Congressios. We had a huge and well cared bed, a full marbled bathroom, fantastic shower, two units sink. Service is... more

We stayed for 2 nights using our Starwood Starpoints. When we arrived we were offered an uprade to a junior suite (as we are gold card holders, so it comes as part of it if there are rooms avaialble). However I had asked in advance to have a quiet, non smoking room. When we arrived we saw a big construction... more

Here are the problems with this hotel: NOISY construction next to hotel, people at the front desk not that friendly. Room service food is not good at all. TERRIBLE coffee too. SMOKING is allowed in some rooms and it makes the hotel STINK. Housekeeping POOR. COmmunication problems with staff. Bellman SMASHED our luggage on his Baggage carrier He put large... more

We booked this hotel because of its location and also because we wanted to stay somewhere luxurious. Having read the reviews this seemed to be the place. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The hotel was overpriced. Builders were at work on the entrance. The rooms were spacious but with very dated decor. Staff were not as attentive and welcoming as... more
