I was writing my review for Melia on the same evening we arrived and wanted to give them my default 4 star score for a pleasant night in a comfortable and clean room... but then I had not seen the breakfast yet! And the swimming pool! It was a crisp November morning and to my surprise the outside pool was... More

We stayed for 3 nights at the Melia over the New Year period in a Grand Premium room. The location of the hotel is excellent for the Guggenheim and right by the park. We arrived early and was not expecting our room to be ready. Therefore, we were quite happy to be advised to return in three hours. Upon return... More

clearly the melia business model works where perhaps the old model struggled a bit (ex sheraton) i suspect a little of the five star service has been trimmed, but in all fairness ,so have the prices. the rooms are starting to show their age in places, but not enough to spoil your day,and with the prices and deals on offer no... The Hotel looks trendy and modern. The rooms are nice, especially the rooms with a balcony, Location is good, close to very big shopping mall, Art Museum and 15 minutes by foot to Guggenheim. Gym is nice and the pool (outside, but heated and open in winter) is excellent. We had an excellent deal, superior room including breakfast for around... More

We stayed in this hotel in August 2013. While as pointed out by others, it is hard to see how it has 5 stars, it is a very nice hotel, in a good location and we enjoyed the stay - our only complaint at the time is that the bar was very over-priced. However, 13 months after our stay, the... More

Since this was a business trip, I really did not have a choice of lodging as arrangements were made by one of our suppliers. Honestly, I could not have made a better choice – this is exactly the type of property that I would seek out for leisure travel. From the distinctive modern architecture to the calming spaces, crisp linens,... More

1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2014

We stayed for 1 night in a premium suite. The room was spacious & comfortable but lacked effective lighting. On check in we were not made to feel welcome by a rather surly disinterested receptionist. She seemed more concerned to know the number of my parking space than facilitate our check in. We had a light lunch on arrival &... More

A very good hotel with very friendly staff. Clean rooms with a lot of space. Very nice entrance, good bar with excellent choice, delicious restaurant (Aizian!) at the groundfloor. Breakfast is great. Nice heated swimmingpool, my daughter loved it. My favourite in Bilbao. *****

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2014

I found the hotel very good, perhaps not 5-star, but a good 4-star; quite modern style, my room (208) was spacious, clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly and spoke English. Really worth the price! But what blew me away was the breakfast! I regretted eating at all the night before since I would've liked to taste _everything_ on... More

I used to travel to Bilbao very often and out of all the hotels I have stayed at, this was my favourite in Bilbao. The hotel is very well located and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. This time I stayed in a suite and the room (as all the rooms in this hotel) is big and clean, although... More
