Ideally located on the ridge overlooking the city, this quiet hotel was the perfect spot to rest up before spending the day wallowing in Jeff Koon's prodigious ego manifested so perfectly in the art collection currently resident in Bilbao's stunning Guggenheim complex. There were other works there too - Richard Serra's The Matter of Time dominated a whole room -... More

Stayed here on our last night in Bilbao. Hotel receptionist was really informative and told us a lot about the area and where to eat. We went into bilbao on the funicular which is really near the hotel at 96 cents one way it's a bargain. Drops you right near the guggenheim. Room quite small and basic, beds comfy bathroom... More

This hotel does not aim to be luxurious - what you get is a very clean and pleasant room for an overnight stop, a warm welcome and convenient parking right outside. It was so easy to drive the mile or so to get the funicular (again, free parking) down to the centre. You have your mooch and meal in busy... More

We stayed here after a late flight into Bilbao as it was reasonably cheap, easy to get to, and with free parking. The place was very nice with friendly staff and a decent sized, very clean room and a nice bathroom. It's up the hill from the city itself so you have great views from the windows. To get to... Our satnav couldn't find the address of the site but keying in Berrizbidea worked. (The owner is aware of the situation. ) This hotel is ideal to catch the ferry at Bilboa or even coming off the ferry!! It is very adequate in all facilities and so quiet. The welcome was good and the owner speaks excellent English. The breakfast... More

We stayed there for 2 nights visiting Bilbao. The weather was rainy so we had little time to appreciate the view if the city from Artxanda hill.Perfect place for those traveling by car.Free parking.Restaurant "LA Escuela" is just few minutes walking from the hotel. There are trails leading down the hill, starting just behind the building & leading to the city.Nice way of... Four of us stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment for 2 nights. We were greeted by a friendly staff member, who spoke good English, that explained things to us and also gave us some information on what to see in Bilbao. The apartment was across the carpark in a seperate building to the hotel and has been renovated in the... More

Greeted by a charming young man who made you feel very welcome. Check in dealt with quickly and taken to our room. Basic, but spotlessly clean. twin beds that were super comfy. Outstanding view from the bedroom window. Bathroom, again a bit small but spotless - very nice free toiletries. The bar was closed when we arrived but the young... More

This was the second time we stayed at Artetxe and three years later its even better, rooms been upgraded so the usual still applies clean etc. but this time my daughter and her family stopped for a night and were given one of the apartments. Was happy with my room but theirs was even better - well done. One of... More

Overlooking the city from high above, yet close enough to reach in a few minutes by car. The staff could not have been more helpful, providing so much advice when we were held up by bad weather which delayed our ferry to England. We came with our dog who was also made very welcome. The restaurant across the road is... More
