We stayed here for a week over Christmas while visiting family in the city. It is located very close to the pedestrianized city centre, but only ten minutes walk from the sea. We had a very spacious room, with separate sitting area, in the old style with plenty of wood but also with modern facilities. The breakfast, which is an... More

We visited this hotel spontaneously and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly front staff, the decent price, the old fashioned but spacious rooms, the comfortable beds and the nice and again bargain breakfast. Otherwise we experienced Gijon as a very quiet place where you better book a restaurant ahead to ensure it is actually open.

We Stayed here for 1 week, we were up on the 8th floor very quiet, the Breakfast was excellent, the staff we happy and always coming round checking you had enough Coffee or Tea, there was plenty of food to choose from, even if it ran out they would be willing to add more. The only thing I was not... More

Great hotel, excellent staff. Spent two nights in September and would recommend highly. Free wifi which worked!. Plasma tv in room. Staff recommended local restaurants and were very helpful. Room did not face the street and we did get a great night's sleep. Air conditioning was available although not needed. Would return.

Stayed in suite with children (€130 per night). Separate rooms, huge bathroom, hallway, air con, comfy beds, generous check out time. Only niggles poor WiFi and lack of parking (public parking close by for €10 per day)

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. We picked it because of its location. The rooms are spacious and facilities are well maintained, spotlessly clean. The bathroom ventilation connects you to the other bathrooms so you hear everything from other rooms. Since there is no safety grid, mosquitoes and other self-invited guests arrived through there. We had to sleep with... More

overnight stop from santander on way to galicia. This was a cheap central hotel in Gijon, with nearby restaurants of high quality. The Rooms had ample space, were comfortable and air conditioned. The staff were excellent and spoke english readily. TV and Wifi, excellent breakfast in end of siecle surroundings. Car park (underground) on door step. Hotel had concession there... More

The hotel is lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely room with a sitting area and even though we were on a higher floor the wifi was very good. Breakfast was very basic with a very confusing 3 tier system that didn't work for us so we ended up eating breakfast out every day.... More

The Hernan Cortes is a lovely hotel situated in the heat of Gijon. Really convenient if you want to explore the town. There is a car park just a 2 minute stroll away and they have a deal with the car park for reduced fees. The hotel itself is a relatively old (I understand it's an old school)but it is... More
