We went to the Hostal Lisboa on a corner of the Plaze Del Carmen without reservation on a sunday late afternoon, and we couldn't have been happier with what we found. It is very easy to locate being on a main square in the very centre of Granada. The cathedral and pedestrianized central area is virtually across the road, the alhambra a very short work and there are bars literally all around the hotel. The staff on reception were fantastic, very helpful and spoke english. We got two rooms for about €45 each. One of the rooms had a fantastic mini balcony with views over the square and if you looked the other way you had views of the snow capped Sierra Nervada mountains. The other was an inernal so no balcony but did have a ventillation window. Both rooms were clean and comfortable with a shower in each.
