On my arrival I was greeted with a gruff demand for "pasaporte", devoid of please or thanks.
The hotel is situated on the edge of a busy, noisy road.
My room was on the ground floor: it was dark and gloomy, not helped by the presence of a high wall just outside the window.
There was an ominous sign in large print in English and Spanish on the inside of the door providing a telephone number to use in case of "incident".
Housekeeping did not make up the room on one of the days of my stay. Sometimes the towels, although laundered, were badly stained. Soap and shampoo were not replaced when the initial allocation was used up.
It was not possible to work in the room: a desk was not provided and the only seating comprised a low, cushion-less, wicker chair.
Reception was not manned between 11pm and 9am. On the morning of my departure, at 7am, I found myself trapped in an unlit courtyard between the main hotel door, which automatically closed...
