This hotel just as its name claimed "Alt", is an older structure, Guest rooms are above the restaurant and rooms have been updated with new Bauhaus decors. The hotel's ground level and outdoor patio sitting serve the restaurant entrance; guests check-in have to go through a small door on the side street. The staff at the check-in also works in... More

The hotel is located very conveniently, close to the city center. The service was quite good. The room was rather small. Unfortunately Internet was not working, which seems to be a persistent problem there.

The Alt Weimar was chosen for me as part of a business trip and it was an excellent choice. This is a small, clean hotel with dated, rather spartan furnishings and spacious rooms. The ancient radiators generated plenty of warmth so the thin duvet is quite adequate. The rooms, and Weimar itself are very quiet and in the morning you... More

We stayed here for two weekend nights, to participate in a wedding celebration. Unfortunately, we did not have time so see any of the numerous Weimar sights. The hotel was easy to reach by car, had a good location to go to town by foot. Interiors were quite tasteful (small tv) and the service was very friendly. The breakfast is... More

We were two travellers, had each booked single rooms, and stayed there for just one night. Alt-Weimar is a most pleasant hotel. Our rooms were on the first floor, very well equipped, in a modern and functional style, exceptionally clean. The hotel is very quite. This also goes for the rooms facing the street. Very kind staff. Good breakfast buffet.... More

I stayed here for two nights and the hotel was perfectly sufficient for my needs. The staff was kind and helpful and the restaurant was sophisticated and delicious. The room was clean and quiet. The WiFi although it seemed to have a strong signal would not hook up to my computer. The hotel was very close to the center of... More

A comfortable hotel, but the main event is dinner. If booked to stay here, don't go elsewhere to dine. The breakfast was of the quality that reflects the fact that the kitchen and dining room are the central parts of the operation and the hotel is something of an adjunct (albeit a very well run one).

My wife and I have been interested in the German Bauhaus movement and wanted to visit Weimar where the movement had it's beginnings. We stayed at the Alt Weimar hotel during our stay. When we first arrived at the hotel in early afternoon, our room wasn't ready, so we stored our bags with the reception and headed out to the... More

Booked 2 rooms and stayed 1 night. I've been in Weimar before, stayed in other villa style hotels for less but decided to give this hotel a try. I found the young hotel staff professional but cold, bordering arrogant and must have been other personel than what the other reviewers had. My business partner and I both had trouble with... More

Stayed 3 nights during a travel to a conferance. Very nice rooms, cozy and comfortable. Clean bath rooms. Thankful for the uncarbonated water given daily. Breakfast was very nice. Staff was very friendly and nice. Two shortcomings noted, some of the staff members were not able to communicate in English. But the most worrysome one for me was that all... More
