If this hotel was a bit cheaper and rated less, I would give it a higher rating. As it is, it was the most expensive place we stayed in on our German tour, and the price was just not justified. The good: good service, great food, cooling towels at arrival, good size rooms, comfy beds and the view! Breakfast and... More

This hotel has it all. It is on the top of a mountain overlook the green and old houses and also a wide scenery view as far as your eyes can see. Breakfast served was excellent. When I was there they had like romeo and Juliet show for summer. The walk in the historical castle also very nice

we stayed there for a night, booked two double rooms @ EUR 249 per room including breakfast. Was supposed to be in celebration of my mother's 66th birthday, she is from Eisenach. However, - we arrived at around noon and were told it would take about 30 minutes for our rooms to be ready. No problem, we waited - until... More

The hotel is very cozy and the staff are very kind. The room has lots of charm. We had a 5-course dinner where everything was fantastic. The bed blanket is individual, and the bath are points that could improve. The breakfast is one of the best or even the best I've ever had in my entire life, the food the... More

This is a pricey place to stay, but I considered it one of those once-in-a-while experiences that make life worth living! The hotel is located at the top of a very tall bluff, along with the Wartburg Castle. Cars are not allowed to travel up to the hotel so you have to park at the base and call for the... More

We had a wonderful time, beautiful hotel, very attentive staff. Literally steps from the Wartburg Castle which is an amazing place loaded with history and beauty. The restaurant was out of this world with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. The hotel does not have an elevator and while they have plenty of bell-boys who will gladly carry your bags the steps... I stayed here 3 nights with my family on vacation. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are of good size, the beds are comfortable, the staff is excellent, and the view out of your room window is outstanding. The restaurant is excellent with many very good choices, and the breakfast in the morning is possibly the best I have had... More

I visited the Hotel during my business trip. This Hotel is a part of a castle called the Wartburg castle. The location is a bit remote( around 5-6 km from railway station on a hill) but extremely scenic. Rooms are good and clean. The breakfast is very nice and especially the overall ambiance of the restaurant and the hotel is... More

Situated next to Wartburg castle (UNESCO heritage), the hotel offers a great view over Eisenach and Thuringia. It's certainly worth its five stars as the service is highly professional and at the same time genuinely friendly, unlike sometimes in high-end market hotels where there's an obvious air of robotic and fake friendliness. The food on offer focussed a lot on... More

I have mixed emotions about this hotel. On the one hand, it really is a beautiful old building with lovely furnishings and excellent food. On the other hand, it lacks some basic modern conveniences such as air-conditioning and elevators, at times it felt a bit pretentious, and in my opinion it is overpriced. My first impression was positive. You park... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome!Far from the restlessness and constrictions of today’s city life, surrounded by forest as far as the eye can see and close to the clouds: This historical site still is as “hoch und froh” (high and merry) as Goethe once experienced it. It is the special feat of this house, to have created out of this unmistakable motif of landscape and architecture, a composition that speaks to all the senses. The Wartburg has retained its friendly hospitality, since the times of the first pilgrims that knocked on its doors. Welcome, service and a good night’s lodging have always been - and still are - a well-kept tradition at the Hotel auf der Wartburg. ... more   less
