The situation of the hotel could not be better - directly on the sea front with magnificent views overlooking the river entrance and the beach. Built in 1976 and now looking it!!! A VERY tired hotel which requires an uplift to retain its 4 star classification. The pool area is certainly poor and the sauna area dirty!! I stayed on... more

Have just returned from a 3 day break to Lubeck. The town is great, with wonderful architecture, churches and the seasonal Christmas markets. Stayed in Travemunde, which is 20 minutes by train from Lubeck at the Maritim Strandhotel and thought it was excellent value for money. This hotel is a real landmark. With 35 floors this tower can be seen from a far distance, as there is no building as high as this one within miles around.
