What a great place to stay in L.Wittenberg. Stayed here twice during my bicycle trip in Germany and enjoyed it very much. Speaking of "room with a view" ! My room, rather apartment (#2) had view on the Church door, where Luther once nailed down his 95 theses. Alte Canzley is a small hotel, therefore reception is not permanently staffed,... More

The hotel is small with only 8 rooms but has a very nice breakfast room and restaurant. The building is quit old, built in 1391, but has all the modern conveniences. The rooms were very clean. The beds are traditional German twin beds put together. The reception is not always staffed but the restaurant staff handle any questions. The breakfast... More

We selected this hotel because it is located next to the Wittenberg chuch with Luther Thesis door. The peacefull location is about 200 meters from the main square. There is a nice restaurant and breakfast room downstairs. Room and bathrooms were big and clean, and "homey". There was no 24 hour reception as it is a small hotel and the... More

First of all, the hotel is excellent with email correspondence relating to your stay. Second , the town itself is an outstanding spot to overnight. Multiple food choices and walkable. The hotel was a model of Teutonic efficiency-clean, nice bathroom and good beds. Breakfast was excellent also. One negative was no wifi available - they did have a plug in... More

The location is fantastic. Once you figure out how to get to their parking lot, you're all set. The parking is in a large lot behind the hotel and it is gated, you are either buzzed in our use your room key to get in. If you're going to Wittenburg, you're there for Martin Luther. This hotel gets you across... More

This quite hotel is in the middle of the historic centre of Lutherstadt Wittenberg across of the Schlosskirche. This is were on October 31, 1517, Luther nailed his 95 theses against the selling of indulgences at the door of the Church, marking the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. Rooms are on two floors and are named after famous minds. On... More

My husand and I stayed at this hotel for one night in November. We payed 94 euro for a double room which also inlcuded breakfast. Germany is one of the more inexpensive countries to visit in western Europe so I probaby could have stayed at a nice hotel in Wittenberg for much cheaper than this but I chose this hotel... More

We stayed in the 'Peter the Great' room. A bit on the expensive side, but if you're in Wittenberg on the Luther trail, there really is no better place to stay. The room looks right out over THE doorway where Luther nailed the 95 theses. The hotel has its own Reformation history - it's part of the experience. The room... More

Even if a person is NOT interested in history, this hotel will stir interest. For Luther fans nothing can compare. Waking up next to the Thesentuer is an unforgettable experience. Incredible also to think that Peter The Geat and Charles XII also stayed here. The hotel itself is wonderful. The rooms spacious and cheerful, the amenities comfortable and modern, and... More

According to the locals we talked to in Lutherstadt Wittenberg this is one of the more expensive hotels in town. It is probably also the best, and in our opinion was quite reasonably priced. Free parking was conveniently located in the back. The reception was only open in the evening and while they did not speak English very well, check-in... More
