My wife and I have stayed at the Kipping several times including the last 2-3 years in a row. As others have said, it is about 100 or so meters from the main hauptbahnhof (train station). The hotel itself is quite old, but the people who work here are really outstanding. This year we are in the midst of a... More

Fantastic location close to main train station. Good history with mansion/villa with great pleasure to stay at such a historic hotel. -1 rating for quirky wireless internet, poor signal and needed a new code for each device (laptop, phone, tablet) each day of stay. The staff was welcoming though difficult to speak with several in English, for future visits I... More

It's an old hotel in a pretty good location, close to the train station and fairly quiet. That is about the top of the mark for the pluses of this establishment. Rooms: Clean, ancient room entry door and hardware (entry took some practice), fair sized room, flat screen tv, free wi-fi (functions well in room). Bathroom: Fairly clean, ok lighting... More

The hotel is literally three blocks from the train station, but on a quiet street. (You exit the station through one of two side entrances; this is the quiet side, away from the shopping area and old town.) We had no problems with noise. The bed was good, the room was clean, the price was reasonable, and the location was... More

Stayed one night as part of a tour. Hotel was a building that was not destroyed during the Allied bombings in WWII - a rarity as most of Dresden was flattened. The rooms are quite elegant - nice furnishings and good bathroom. Dining in the bar restaurant was great - we had a group dinner there and no complaints at... More

We stayed for just one night and Hotel Kipping fit the bill. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk or a quick tram ride from the historic city center. We found the hotel to be clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was very good, strong coffee and home made cake, as well as the usual fare. Service is a... More

I stayed two nights at this quaint, pretty hotel just outside of old town Dresden. Originally I had thought the hotel would be nestled on a quiet street and was a bit shocked to find it more open and immediately across from a parking lot. No worry - it is a very short 10-15 minute walk from the historic city... More

Helpful staff and good sized room, only the plastic mattress protectors made sleeping uncomfortable but we were there during a heatwave. Breakfast was very good and tasty but get there early to make sure you get a slice of the lovely homemade cake - yummy.

This hotel is "good"/"fine" in most ways, but never manages to tip over into "excellent" or even "very good", except perhaps in terms of proximity to the train station. Its crucial flaw is disappointing service. Service: For me, once you've got the basics right (safe, clean, comfortable etc.), it's customer service that should set you apart as a first priority.... Do you enjoy convenience to the town center one block from Dresden's train station? The history of the Kipping estate surviving the 02/1945 firebombing is sufficient reason to check it out. But the buffet breakfast spread is SPECTACULAR. Bikes are available through your stay for exploring this cultural gem of Germany. Dresden features fabulous history, architectural wonders and the glorious... More
