The Villa Hugel has the right combination of being charmingly independent, in a great location, nicely decorated and noticebly clean, offers superb service and at very reasonable prices. Rooms have aircon, there is a sauna and a pool, and wireless internet cost me just €4 for 3 nights. The restaurant itself is OK, offering wholesome, simple meals rather than haut-cuisine,... more

The hotel is set on a residential street overlooking the oldest town in Germany. The hotel is within 2 minutes walk of ERA (The European Academy of Law) and down the hill takes you wihtin 5 minutes to the Kaiserthermen. The city itself is about a 10 minute walk away. The hotel was lovely with the best feature being the... more

We stayed 4 nights in a room which looked out directly onto the city and river. We found the staff helpful, especially since our German is quite poor. The waitress who served our evening meal was especially good at translating the menu and she willingly liased with the chef to help me understand what the fish was & let me... more

We stayed for one night on our way to Brussels. As other reviewers have said, the location was fine, only a 10 min walk to the centre of town. We had a triple room which was probably the largest triple room we had in all of Europe - very clean and newish. We used the indoor pool which was very... more

The Villa Hugel is excellent. I consider this place a surprising oasis in the city of Trier. It is located up a small hill and backs into a valley that creates a feeling of being removed from the city center. However, you are very close (we walked) to all the sites the city has to offer. The staff to very... more

From the the very friendly welcome to the time of departure, every moment at this small, personalized villa was perfect. The morning buffet breakfast was generous with too many choices as well as specialized requests from the kitchen. We were within a 10 minute walk from the Roman ruins and downtown Trier. The villa was imaculate and had a wonderful... more

Stayed for one night in this hotel en route from the UK to Austria. Far nicer place to stay than a soul-less chain hotel. Our room (Munich) was nicely appointed and all the furnishings looked new. The bathroom was large and spotless. The breakfast spread was really fantastic. A huge variety of cereals, breads and pastries, cheese, meats, fresh fruit,... more

This small hotel has everything one could wish for. Immaculately clean, extremely helpful and friendly staff, fantastic food and a great situation just far enough out of the hustle and bustle of town. My wife and I stayed three nights and were made welcome in the best traditions of hotel-keeping. We cannot recommend this hotel too highly. I would, however,... more

The Villa Hugel is about as close to a simply perfect hotel without any pretentsions or false affectations, that one can find. The setting affords excellent views of the city, which is one of the finest tourist destinations in central Germany. The staff is meticulous and professional. Rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed, some rooms are more charming than others... more

We loved this little hotel. great view and lovely terace! We also enjoyed the pool. Breakfast was very nice and you could walk into town to see the sights and eat in the square. NO air conditioning through so very hot at night and if you left the windows open you got the smoke from the terace, the only downfall... more
