Due to a convention in Franfurt driving up hotel prices there, we decided to take the short train ride after our flight to Germany to Mainz to stay here. The hotel is very close to the main station, with covenient connections to stops up and down the Rhein. We travelled to Bingen and joined a cruise for a short distance to St Goar. Both these towns are interesting to explore. Weisbaden is also nearby. Mainz itself is attractive, especially the old town. more

Convenient location right next to the train station. The downside, this tends to be an area with a lot of activity and, therefore, a lot of noise outside. Not too bad, though. The staff was friendly and helpful. The elevator is small, and because the floors are split-level, the elevator doesn’t stop at each. So you must take some stairs.... more

I stayed at the Hotel Koenigshof in February 2003. The rooms were decent for a European hotel by the railroad station -- ok room, good breakfast, and great location when stopping in Mainz en-route elsewhere.
