My spouse and his parents arrived at the Hilton Mainz after driving up the Rhine from Koln. We parked our car in the garage, followed signs to reception (about a 10-minute walk), checked in, and took the 10-minute hike back to our rooms. The good: Our rooms in the Rhine Wing had a very nice view of the Rhine. Also,... more

Only two small glitches: something had gone wrong with my (internet) booking and my name had been put with somone else's address, and the road outside was being dug up, which meant I had to walk across the bridge to get from the foyer to the room. Otherwise, the staff were helpful, the room was huge (a bit impersonal mabye,... more

Stayed 2 awful nights at this terrible hotel. The 'Rhine' wing is being renovated so the only option is the 'City' wing. The first room 267 had holes torn in the curtains, food in the bar fridge from a previous guest, holes in the bathroom wall where fittings had been removed, a shopping receipt on the floor that was a... more

2 Hiltons in Mainz - Hilton Mainz and Hilton Mainz City. Overlooking the river is Hilton Mainz (Rheinstrasse). Beautiful view and must go for river view room. Rooms are old & worn out but hotel is huge. Restaurant has nice food & costs around €30 for a starter, main course, & drink. Walking distance to city (shopping, restaurants, cafes etc).... more

I've stayed at this hotel several times over the last few years and have noticed that it is starting to age. Apparently management agress, as it is currently undergoing a massive renovation that will surely improve the facilities. In the meantime, I have no real complaints. The renovation makes for a lot of walking if your room is in the... more

We used Hilton Honors points to book two nights at the Mainz Hilton October 1 and 2. For 15 euros per night extra, we were given river views. This was indeed the right decision as the room seemed to have more natural light and was convenient to the lobby area and restaurants. As previewers have noted, the beds are quite... more

Although the public areas are 20 years out of date, most rooms are comfortable, quiet and modern. The river view rooms are best. Top floor rooms in the 'city wing' are enormous, with floor to ceiling glass giving plenty of light. Some 'double' beds are actually 2 singles pushed together, with separate linen on each, and the 2 slim pillows... more

This is the larger of the two Hiltons in Mainz. I had a booking for two nights but unfortunately my flight was cancelled and I missed the first night. Despite contacting the hotel to advise that I would arrive late there was much confusion at check-in. I was upgraded to a better room than the one I had booked. The... more

The City of Mainz is a perfectly lovely little town best known for its most famous prior reisident (Gutenburg) but there are nice resturants, the hotel is located right on the river and the staff are pleasant. Fine breakfast included in the rate. Lots of Japanese tourists when I was there but no problems. Only complaint is that there is... more

This was a conference hotel for me and for three days, the staff could not have been more helpful. The cheaper conference rate rooms are reached by a bridge over the road, but mine was very adequate with a large bed and a nice bathroom. The buffet was overwhelming and the snacks we were served were incredible. Checkout was easy... more
