My husband and I enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Hotel Merkelbach. Our room was very clean, quaint and looked directly out to the Rhine River. We loved the walking trails around the hotel and into the city. The owner was very friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. The breakfasts each morning were delicious and served in a room... Hotel Merkelbach is a simple hotel, on the " other side of the Rhine", seen from Koblenz. It takes a few minutes by bus or taxi to the city center. If you prefer to walk it is about half an hour. I went here as almost all hotels in Koblenz itself were full due to a big event " Rhein... More

The B&B is located right beside the Rhine. Our room had a pleasing even though partial view of the river. It was on the second floor . There is no lift but that was a minor inconvenience as far as we were concerned. The Merkelbach is a good 30 minutes walk away from city and the KD booth selling tickets... More

We arrived at Hotel Merkelbach on the evening of 1st January. There was a note on the door for us to contact our host and we were then given the instructions to open up and how to get to our room. Ursula (Uschi) was incredibly helpful. Our room was quaint, and spacious, with a balcony overlooking the Rhine (literally right... More

My mother and I stayed at the Merkelbach Hotel during our recent trip to the Rhein. This small German hotel was only a five minute walk to cross the bridge into the city. Very close to the train, Schloss, Deutches Eck, and all other sites and stops. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious. Food... More

This is a hotel that is actually on the Rhine so the views from the outside dining area are lovely. The rooms are quite spacious and have a clean bathroom you can ask for things like irons at reception. It is a lovely setting to walk along the front at night and you can walk over the bride into the town quite... Great room with large balcony overlooking the Rhine. Pleasant 15 min walk along the river bank to the old town of Koblenz. Made to feel very welcome by friendly staff. We relly enjoyed our meals in the garden overlooking the Rhine. The food was excellent

The location is great and the staff is wonderful. We had free parking for our car, which is a serious perk for European hotels. Our room over-looked the river and afforded a nice view. The restaurant is excellent and the staff was also great for recommending other restaurants in the city. This is an older hotel and may lack the... More

Great location right on the Rhine River and about a15 minute walk over the bridge to the town of Koblenz. The hotel is rated 3 star and we had a difficult time understanding this one.Maybe because the food was very good and as you were eating on the patio you were overlooking the Rhine.Parking is available as for the room it... Although rooms are dated, location made up for it and the friendly staff. We had a car and parking was not a problem. Our rooms overlooked the Rhine which was great, even in winter. Breakfast was good even for our teenagers appetite. One night we ate in the restaurant and had a great meal, the food was very tasty and... More
