A standard Ibis hotel with the quality you expect. Clean comfy rooms, basic bathroom, soft beds (a bit too soft to my personal taste) and a good breakfast buffet. The breakfast gets an extra point from me because it's the first Ibis buffet ever where I found Royal First Flush tea. That's pretty amazing! The neighborhood of the hotel can... More

Ibis is pretty "sterile" chain and this hotel is not exception but I would recommend this hotel, especially during big fairs in Essen or Düsseldorf. Gelsenkirchen is nice town, small enough to take a walk in the evening and close enough to mentioned cities. Rooms are clean and staff decent. Parking is not a strong side, since there is no... More

The room window was facing the street and the noise in the morning might wake up the light sleepers. It was a small room, no fridge, no air conditioning. If it gets too cold, you can ask at the reception for a small heater. They're a partner of Schalke 04. The price goes up when the team is playing in... More

My Husband I booked in for one night. When I enquired about the parking that is advertised, I was shown 3 parking spaces on the pavement. As I was parked behind these three cars so that I could at least unpack, I was told by the very rude receptionist that she would only give me 5 minutes to move my... More

I had the misfortune of staying at this hotel from 15-09 to 18-09-2013. The hotel was was booked for myself and some 20+ Colleagues, we were attending the Essen Fair and we thought from past experience that this Ibis would be every bit as good as others we have used, NOT SO. My room (2nd floor) was facing the very... More

Stayed for a night following a soccer match. Staff helpful, although services of the hotel were less than that of a hostel. Bad antenna, meant no TV to wind down (fuzzy screen). Very stuffy room on a warm day.....no ventilation even with the window open and no fan or air conditioner. No fridge to keep drinks cold, and irritatingly no... More

Stayed for one night (attending a Shalke game). Very friendly and welcoming staff, good functional room, excellent location - close by Railway station and main street. Wi-Fi in public areas was not working which was unhelpful.

If your looking to stay somewhere in Gelsenkirchen whether its business or pleasure, I strongly recommend you stay at the Ibis Hotel. The Staff are friendly and the location perfect. Although basic the rooms are adequate and comfortable. For me, the best thing about the Hotel is its perfect location. The worst thing about the Hotel is the towels are... More

As I am writing the report from the Ibis Gelsenkirchen hall I know exactly what I am talking about. The hotel is very old, it needs mantinenance and must be totally refurbished, No chance of setting the room´s temperature. The bathroom is really small and the taps are leaking. Internet costs 3 Euro x hour and it does not work... More

I stayed at this hotel for one night and found it an adequate hotel. I was attending the footbal at schalke. The hotel is right in the centre of Gelsenkirchen, next to the train station and the main street full of shops. Rooms were of a decent standard, comfy bed, bathroom was a little on the small side, but was... More
