This is a charming old fashioned hotel close to a U-Bahn station which is only two stops from the Central Station in Essen. It si very convenient if you are visiting a Trade Fair at Meese Essen which is also two stops away on the U-11 or a pleasant 15 minute walk if you are feeling energetic. There is no... More

It's a pity all hotels don't put in the same effort as these guys. From check in to check out, the staff are friendly, genuine, and helpful. With wifi throughout, an excellent home prepared breakfast, central location, and complimentary lunch bags, this hotel is a winner! It may be only 50m "off the beaten track", but that still makes this... More

Meh. I think I might have just been in Essen on a busy weekend, but this hotel was quite overpriced compared to the other places I've been in Germany. I paid less for nicer hotels in Munich, Hamburg, Aachen, Stuttgart and Berlin (which are much nicer cities). It is very clean and somewhat cute. The public transport takes a little... More

Stayed for a couple of days during a trade fair. Very helpful staff, good rooms if a little small, restaurant on the ground floor was very good and breakfast was excellent, they even provided lunch bags in the price

I stayed at Rheinischer Hof hotel in November 2012. It was an affordable solution for accommodation during the Medica trade fair in Düseldorf when acommodation prices at Düseldorf are abnormally high. The hotel is very good located.Only a few minutes away from the subway station. The street where the hotel is located is very quiet. The hotel is located not... More

I stayed in Essen one night to attend a dance event in the area. This hotel is super close to a U-bahn station (within 200 metres), making it very easy to access from the main train station (and it's only 2 stops on the U-11 line). The staff was very friendly and helpful. You get a free public transportation ticket... More

I had to go to Essen several times in 2011 and most of the time stayed at the hotel Rheinischer Hof for its convenient location (just two stops from the central station U11 / U18), it a pleasant neighbourhead (Rüttenscheidt) just around the corner from the Rüttenscheider Strasse with all its cafes, bars and restaurants, the friendliness of staff, the... On business trip to Essen. Was recommended this hotel by someone who has lived/worked in the area for 20 years. The hotel is fairly basic, but very good if you are not planning to spend vast amounts of time in your room or want to entertain clients in hotel restaurant (although hotel restaurant did look good - we did not... This is a quiet little hotel. It doesn't look fancy, but my room on the top floor was comfortable enough with its Ikea (?) furniture. Climbing all the way up there was a bit annoying, though (no elevator). The old doors and locks are a bit noisy, so you will hear it when people are moving in and out of... More
