I was traveling to a trade show in Dusseldorf and all hotels were sold out. Found this place and was amazed by the hospitality of this hotel. The staff was amazingly friendly and the rooms clean and comfy. It's a garni hotel, so only breakfast is offered - pretty good buffet that offers plenty of options. In case you don't... More

The services associated with hotel living are missing so one could not describe this as an hotel. The room was small but OK the bed comfortable enough & the bathroom sufficient. There was however, no way to make a cup of tea or coffee, no refrigerator, no restaurant no bar only a vending machine in the lobby area. The TV... More

A unique gem in Germany! We stayed at the hotel for 6 nights as we were moving house. When we called up to enquire about a room the lady was very friendly and offered us a "business room". The room was nice and spacious, good size bathroom and the great thing about the TV was that you could rotate it... More

Had non stop issues with the internet. I have stayed here before and the internet was slow but reliable, this time I misses a conference call with a client because I could not get email. The staff was friendly and it is a good location but I must have fast ands reliable internet. Will not stay there again until this... More

Gruga is a business class hotel with sharp clean rooms and an excellent breakfast. The staff are the epitome of helpfulness and so friendly, nothing is too much trouble. A big thank you to Constanz (spelling?) who cordinated a collection for me. Being directly opposite the Messe for exhibitions it really is a no brainer to stay here. I cant... More

I've now stayed at this hotel a numer of times when attending shows at the Messe Essen. The Gruga is perfectly locate if you're working at the how halls and wanting somewhere nearby that's clean, comfortable and with good service. The Gruga staff always look after you and the rooms are clean and well presented. Breakfast only with no bar... More

We chose the Hotel An der Gruga because of other TA reviews and because of it's location. The hotel is on a quiet side street and yet only a block from a main road into town from the south. This made it easy to find. We found free parking in front of the hotel, but failing that they have private... More

This hotel came highly recommended, and I can see why. Starting with the staff, everyone is friendly and helpful. At least one person will be available who speaks very good English. As an example of the service, I asked a young lady who was a breakfast attendant whether the bowl of "quark" was sour cream. She looked it up, and... More
