The Kastens is located on a quiet street about 20 minutes' walk south of the Altstadt. It doesn't have its own parking (a small parking bay immediately at the front of the hotel is really only for very short-term loading and off-loading), but there is on-street parking outside (though finding a space will more often than not be quite a... Very outdated hotel, as soon as you walk in it feels as if you have gone back to the 80’s. The only modern/updated part was the bathroom. The staff is polite and helpful. Even though the hotel was clean, the sheets had stains on them. It was definitely not value for money, the hotel needs to be renovated. Only stayed... More

Traveled to Dusseldorf with a few mates to visit the Dusseldorf Kirmes. The hotel was in an excellent location, very close to the fair. The staff were welcoming and very friendly going out of their way to help. It is quite a modern hotel, the rooms were clean (although a bit too warm during our visit in July as there... More

Very nice small hotel close to the city center (15 minutes walk) and to the main shopping street. The breakfast was very good with great selection. The room was clean and big. We had some Wi-Fi problems in the room, but in the lobby it was ok. We loved the lobby with nice decorations. The area of the hotel is... More

Based on the reviews, I thought I knew what I was getting. Generally - they are accurate. The location is not terrific and you don't get a great experience in the city without a 20-minute walk to the 'Ko' and other shopping areas such as Schadowestrasse. It's not a huge deal but I think it takes away from the potential... More

Our group of ten stayed here for a stag do over the May bank holiday weekend. This was a great location for us, being a short (15-20 minute) walk from the Altstadt (old town) and the city centre. Rooms were comfortable and clean; the cleaning staff went above and beyond the call of duty here, washing up the numerous(!) glasses... More

Stayed here twice during the past 3 years and had the same experience both times. The location is rather good, rooms are okay but spacious and comfy beds. Breakfast is normal but not the little extra, however the staff is very welcomly, friendly and helpful!

We enjoyed our stay a lot. The site is very comfortable, close to the tram line stop (2 actually one outside the hotel and another in 100m) and safe (near to the police station). The breakfast was really nice, and the quality of sleep nice, too. The rooms were warm enough and generally it's suitable for everyone who's looking a... More

Great value small hotel, very clean and with a good breakfast selection. Within easy walking distance of the Old Town and only 4 stops on the tram from the town centre. Reception staff were really helpful and very friendly.

We needed to stay for more than a week with 2 kids and so were looking for an inexpensive hotel. Kastens certainly offered good value for money but don't expect any luxuries. The rooms were of a good size with high ceilings and comfortable beds. The bathroom was less pleasant - tiny with a small shower area, smelly shower curtain... More
