spent 3 nights here and was impressed by the friendly staff, the cleanliness of the room, comfortable bedding, excellent en suite facilities, towels changed daily and the superb eat as much as you like continental breakfast. Admitedly the hotel does look a little "tired" and in need of decoration but this does not detract from the facilities already mentioned nor... More

Less than 5 min walk from the Dom and City Centre. Very comfortable and clean with quality bedding. You never quite know what to expect from 2 star hotels and I've stayed in some ropey ones, but the Madison is fine. Close to the railway but noise wasn't an issue. Continental breakfast varied and plentiful and staff helpful and polite.... More

Stayed for 2 nights with 3 friends at the end of January for a general look round Cologne. We had 2 x 4 bed rooms, which were basic but comfortable. Bathroom ok, although shower temperature was inconsistent. Very modern, large wall mounted TV in room, Typical continental breakfast which had plenty of options although nothing hot. Staff were friendly. Located... More

We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and couldn't wait to check out the following morning. The guy on reception was extremely rude and demanded that we leave our key at reception when we went out for dinner. Since there was no lift we had to drag our bags up several flights of stairs without any help. Our room... More

Really enjoyed this budget hotel. Large clean room. Breakfast plentiful. Best thing is location really close to everything. I had a room over looking the park and church. Very reasonable when compared to my friends rooms (hilton and marriott).

Although numerous reviews do mention the proximity to the railway tracks, we didn't find this a particular problem. We slept 3 nights with the windows open and while yes, there was noise, it became more like a white noise and neither of us found it disturbing. It was a short walk to the train station and just a little further... More

Just finished a terrific weekend break in Cologne. Normally we stay at 4 star hotels such as the Hilton etc etc. However, this time we travelled on a Travelzoo value for money break, which included a two night bed and breakfast stay at the Hotel Madison. The hotel was situated within the Cathedral area of the City and was in... More

The room was clean and comfortable. The location was convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were good. But oh, the nightly noise. It wasn't the trains. Locals were talking, joking, laughing loudly from about 10 to midnight in the park outside our window each of the three nights we stayed. The second night, Deutsche Bahn decided to repair... More

We stayed 1 night in this hotel and although I was aware it was not going to be exceptional, I was still a bit disappointed. The location is quite convenient, as in 10 mins. Walk you can reach Cologne's city centre, but we soon realised that a place a bit further away might have been a better option. We went... More

We stayed for one night at this hotel. the rooms where spatious and clean. Good breakfast and helpful staff, You are very close to the train station and the tracks which can be a problem if you open your windows. It doesn't have air-conditioning which could be a problem in the summer months.
