If you like small, personalized hotels, this is the place for you. The location is both quiet and extremely convenient if you are traveling by train. While not luxurious, it is far above standard. The breakfast is elegant and generous, plus they will prepare scrambled eggs on the spot. In particular, their employee, Christian, was superb in offering discreet and... More

This small "hotel" is more a bed and breakfast. I can not imagine how this place got such great reviews. The breakfast was included in our 95 euro stay for a standard room. The room was tiny, in the attic. The room felt really cramped with no view except over a rooftop with noisy fans from the building behind. The... More

Very welcoming & helpful especially as we arrived after 11pm. Warm friendly staff with a great atmosphere and nothing was too much trouble. Great location as it was only 10 minutes walk from the city and other amenities with lots of nightlife and things to see, such as the Lindt Museum and the Cathedral. Clean & comfortable room with a fantastic... More

Excellent place to stay: Only steps away to main attractions and main train HBF station. Since it was to the other side of the train line it was very quiet at night. Breakfast was excellent with many choices and scambled eggs, coffee made at the moment specially for you. After leaving the room they will keep your bags for you... More

My wife and I stayed for two nights in the Hotel Domstern. We were pleased with all aspects of our stay. The hotel, as the name suggests, is close to the cathedral. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The room and shower room were on the small side but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good.

I was very pleased with this hotel and would definitely stay here again, especially considering the modest price. Not only was the bed comfortable, but even the desk chair was delightfully upholstered. Wifi worked fine. My room was very quiet, looking onto a small courtyard that served as my private refrigerator (no minibar). Excellent breakfast--what a delight to have proper... More

We made a booking with hotel domstern two months ago. Upon arrival, from the US, we were tired and jet lagged, but were told we were being "upgraded" to the sister property down the street (see other review of hotel domspitzen). While the sister property was nice, I don't appreciate them moving me - when I spent the time looking... More

Stayed here for three nights to visit the Cologne Christmas markets. Nice little hotel, excellent location 5-10 mins walk from the cathedral and main train station. Staff were friendly and welcoming and gave some good tips about where to get coffee and cake. Breakfast had a good selection of sweet and savoury including breads, cheeses, cold meats, cereals, puddings, yogurts... More

Arrived at Hotel Domstern to a locked glass door and stood outside in the cold pressing the buzzer to no avail for a couple of minutes cos the front desk was unattended. Was finally let in by a friendly gentlemen who informed me that we had been "upgraded" to their sister hotel Domspitzen, just down the street and nearer to... More

We think that one of the most important ingredients for a hotel is friendly and helpful staff. This hotel has the most friendly and helpful team of people working for it that you could find anywhere. We would like to give particularly high praise to Stefan and Christian who could not have done more for us. My wife and a... More
