I visited Cologne for the first time for a conference and booked Hotel Buchholz for two nights. The hotel is within a short walking distance from the city centre, and the Expo centre, and the hotel is generally in a good spot just one block from the river. Cute little find in Downtown Koln...family owned and operated...cozy rooms and great breakfast. Small sized bathrooms...but it's about the location...nice spot... The hotel is next to some large construction of office buildings that are across the street...but don't let that stop you. The owner and her son were so accomodating... more
A small hotel a very short walk from the railway station offering a particularly warm reception and old fashioned Welsh hospitality from the matriarch of the house. Smallish rooms. For us, the breakfasts were a particular strength and the free internet access was an unexpected but very welcome bonus. more
This is a great place to stay if you are going to Cologne. From the airport, the train goes directly to the main station and then you can walk (3 blocks) or take a taxi (5Euros).
