Like many of the other reviews, the location is great and the breakfast is great but the rooms are so-so. Stayed here on business with a group. The room was tired; carpet tattered and worn, place had a funny smell to it, they didn't refresh my bottled water. My room was right off the elevator lobby and I was concerned... More

I've stayed at this Hotel a few Times, Very useful for the centre of Cologne. However it has been renamed the Cologne Hotel. So to justify this you now have to pay €16.35 City Tax on Check out! Plain ridiculous. Never have I paid this before. The rooms are in dire need of refurbishment, Corridor carpets have obviously never been cleaned.... More

Lovely hotel. First class service. Massive hotel room with excellent views, very spacious, separate study area plus sofa. Right on top of some Christmas markets (Rudolph Platz and Christmas Avenue) and good eating venues. Would definitely stay again. Very impressed with service and hotel in general.

Third time I experienced the Barcelo, last time a year ago. Staff at reception very patient and friendly, willing to help out. Once in my room, my general feeling this time was not good. With my 1.90 m length I thought matras and duvet very short. Pillows both too fluffy and no choice of getting good support. In the bathroom... More

It's ok, rooms are clean, they have space for your luggage, laundry service. It's 15 Euros away from the train station in taxi, but is quite a walk to get to the Cathedral, if you are leaving by foot, I advice you to eat at the spitz that is near the hotel.

Hotel was in a great location - direct access to public transport and easy to get around on foot. Visited to experience christmas in Cologne. Markets pretty, more or less the same nick nacks in all. Wouldn't go for the shopping. Cathedral was breathtaking and would return if only to see it again. Atmosphere generally really nice. Room was very... More

The hotel is well-situated and offers an attractive rate for a weekend night sat/sun (85). Many restaurants around. Shopping streets close. I found a parking spot on the street, in front of the hotel (free). Staff was friendly and helpful. No problem encountered, but the room 628 was a bit cold, could not be heated, and I was too lazy... Having lived at Friesenplatz in past, we immediately thought of the Barcelo for its excellent location. The hotel is situated at Rudolfplatz right across from the station, so has great transport links. It is also within walking distance of the Neumarkt, Schildergasse and the Dom, making it an excellent choice for shopping or even Xmas markets. There are so many... More

We booked this room on hotels tonight, and it was a great choice. Well priced and very close to everything. If you go left or right from the plaza you are with in steps of tons of bars and restaurants. The staff was pleasant and they all spoke English. Great choice!!

Good points. Convenient location for city, helpful staff, comfortable beds Bad points Parking is 17 euro per day, air con in both rooms is switched off in winter, we had 2 rooms and both were very hot, Noise from location (people and vehicles) even.at 3am, is dreadful. Bathrooms need a makeover as look like somthing fom 1976
