We ventured here many times for an out of the way place to stay, and found the owner eccentric and very cool. The first time (in the 90's) he greeted our taxi; checked us in; showed us to our "room" (which was an entire tower section); greeted us for dinner and was there for breakfast and checked us out as... As part of our trip down the river we stayed at Kommende Ramersdorf. The service was excellent. The converted hotel was older but clean. If you are expecting the most updated castle experience this is not it. If you are looking for something that is family owned, older but clean, outside of the every day norm you found it! Never... They say that with houses and hotels there are three factors to take into account viz location location and location and I think that this is very true. On that basis this is one of the worst hotels that I have stayed in. If you do decide to stay here make sure that you have a car and that you... More

Recently stayed here for a wedding and cannot compliment the staff enough - they went out of their way to make sure the day went smoothly. The short ceremony was held outside on the lawn under a beautiful old tree, after which we moved to the courtyard by the former stables for champagne and canapés. The meal was held in... More

My wife and I stayed at the Kommande Ramersdorf in the summer of 2008, and we had a wonderful experience. After our 15 minute walk from the bus station, we made our way up the wooded path to the castle. There appeared to be no one around when we walked through the driveway arch, and we began hunting for a... More

As the previous reviewer mentions, this hotel isn't what you think of when you think "castle" -- that's because it's not supposed to be. Ramersdorf is a palace, not a castle. They are, however correct in saying that the hotel portion is not in the palace itself, but rather in a converted building on the property. When we checked in,... More

The hotel was more of a photo opportunity than a real castle. Although proclaimed to be restored from a castle built in 1220, at least the hotel portion was a 3 star facility built in the 1960's. Our arrival was extremely strange - the place appeared to be completely deserted until we drove around back. The grounds are nice but... More
