For some reason Bochum hotels are all on the expensive side. Odd really as the town's charm is not immediately perceptible. Tucholsky tries to mark itself out as cool, contemporary and designer but quite frankly I found it rather spartan and not very comfortable. And expensive. I should probably should have been wowed by the two contemporary paintings on the... More

Don't stay here if you're sensitive to "entertainment noise breakout". As previous reviewers have noted, this hotel is located in the so-called Bermuda Triangle - Bochum's party zone - where the street to the rear is lined with bars, nightclubs, etc, all with outdoor tables. I had the misfortune to be allocated Room 301 at the front, which seemed fine... More

Good room, spacious bathroom, super-friendly staff! But if you want to sleep this is the wrong place. There os noise u'ntil late, so you cannot open the windows. And if they are closed it is hot hot hot.

I love the fact that the hotel was connected to a restaurant and that the restaurant staff did check-ins and check-outs. It was perfect for my one night in Bochum. The street was great and full of bars and restaurants. I was worried about the noise but my window was almost 100% noise-proof, which helped. I was a bit confused... More

The hotel is attached to an awesome restaurant and bar. The staff was friendly, except when I needed a assistance opening the door for the first time. The waiter was annoyed I didn't know the secret trick to unlock it. My bad... The room was very simple, but incredibly contemporary with toiletries and a great shower. Loved it!

Lets first talk about the hotel. Nothing very remarkable - somewhat minimalist furniture, clean, the ground floor cafe-cum restaurant offers big portions with little culinary refinement. I wouldn't advise staying there at weekends, since the place is located squarely on Bochum's boozing mile, aptly named the Bermuda Triangle. They compensate for this by offering breakfast until 6pm. Whats really weird... More

This is my second stay at this hotel in Bochum. The location is in the center of the "Bermuda Triangle" which is a focal point for Bochum with shops and mostly restaurants and bars. I booked a single room with breakfast (although they upgraded me to a much larger room). Check-in is in the bar/restaurant. I arrived very early from... More

I stayed in this hotel for three nights (26th, 27th and 28th September 2012) when I went to the Essen trade show, though it is not close to the show itself. The cost of the taxi from Dusseldorf airport is about 50 euros or so. The hotel has its own bar and had a vibrant feel of an oldr style.... More

Yes, it's been a few years since I last stayed in Bochum but the things that attracted me to the Art Hotel Tucholsky were as good if not better. The improvements, for me, were that the ever-helpful staff now seem competent speaking English! One of them actually returned a tip to me after a meal when I accidently gave too... More

good things first - staff are delightful. for the rest: chose the art hotel having stayed a week at the art hotel berlin mitte, which was comfortable and attractive. bochum, however, is a hotel where cheapness and discomfort reign, under the label of 'minimalist': bed and two wooden slabs as room furnishing, it was freezing cold in the evening and...
