Stayed 3 weeks in Aachen cuz my daughter lives here . Couldn't find one place with that long vacancy so stayed 1st 8 days at hotel Krone then took our chances on wandering around and finding a decent place. Saw this place but you can't go in off the street without buzzing in from the sidewalk. Got in, booked a... More

We arrived at Hotel Marx due to a recommendation in Lonely Planet. We were offered a large ensuite double room for 89 euro. The room was spotlessly clean and well decorated. Although the bathroom was a little dated, it was also clean and spacious with a good shower. Hotel Marx is a short walk into the city centre and the... More

This hotel can be recommended for a stay in Aachen. Friendly welcome by the owner, a hostess that understands her job and a very comfortable room. The hotel is romantic in an old fashioned way. The interior was decorated with an eye for detail; you don’t need to like it to feel at home. The breakfast with home baked bread... More

Although the reservation from Hotel Marx clearly stated that "an ample breakfast" was included in the price agreed upon, the imperious proprietress said I had to pay extra for the breakfasts. Indeed, she said I was to pay in cash. Nor did she issue a receipt, which I later realized would make her not paying taxes to the government. The... More

This was a group booking. Nobody had any complaints about their room, apart from the street side being a bit noisy. Rooms all clean and beds comfortable. The lift can't be used after 21.30, so top floors unsuitable for the elderly, the infirm, or the inebriated. Decor a bit dated, but is that important? Breakfast was rather a scrum, as... More

We wanted a quiet hotel with breakfast, and Hotel Marx was perfect for us. The location is great - easy walking distance to everything in Aachen. Our room was spotless, very quiet and the breakfast buffet was very good traditional german fare. We really liked the furnishings and decor in the hotel as well. All in all, a great value... More

This hotel was quite small and friendly. Went in April 2011. for the first time. Food was good no complaints with plenty of choice, I didn't use the a la carte as we found the buffet service good enough.

The Hotel Marx is a very good place. The location is fine and the service is very good, in walking distance to the train station and the city center. I've had a extraordinary weekend in Aachen

We arrived in Aachen on a Saturday night after some days in Belgium; we missed a train in Liege, so our arrival was rather late. We did not have the total in cash but paid the next morning, that was okay with the manager, we had a great but short stay in Aachen, at last we found the open restaurants... More
