I was in Aachen for a 5 week working trip and the company booked the IBIS Marschiertor. The room was small but adequate with tv, pay-tv, clean shower (no tubs) & modern finishing. Aachen is not exacty a tourist paradise but if you need an overnight stop there are 2 Ibis hotels. Normaluhr is in a slightly better area than this one, Marschiertor, but they are both within walking distance of each other and have underground carparks. Stayed here the weekend of July 15th. 47 EUR per room per night is a good price. Beware, there is no airconditioning! It was hot out that weekend and even with the window open the room was still hot. This hotel was basic but comfortable ideal for a couple. It has a bar and the staff are all friendly and speak quite good English if your germans not up to scratch!! more
