This place is a lovely example of a hotel that has been modernised without losing its character. It's on a quiet street but within walking distance of the busiest parts of Braunschweig. There's an Italian restaurant within the same building as the hotel and that's where guests receive their breakfast. This restaurant is a fine place for an evening meal... More

This hotel wow'd us with its amazing oldness -- built in the 1400s. The room was large, we were on the ground floor (#11) immediately off the small lobby. No other room was off the lobby like this. It was kind of weird actually, but on the other hand we didn't have to schlep a lot of luggage up a... More

This hotel is representative of an older style, authentic German hotel with exposed beams, steep stairs and wood architecture. I personally like this style, but it may not suit others. My room was on the 2nd floor with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. It should be noted that the balcony is shared with the neighboring room. If you don't lock... More

This is a good find. Reasonable prices, great location and great breakfast! The room we had was on the 3rd floor and had its own sitting room with TV. Everything was clean and comfortable. WiFi had good speed but not easy to sign on. You just have to go through the procedure.

Old fashion, with old furnitures and old tools as decoration. We didn't like it too much, but it might be charming for other people. Cleaness of the room could be better, but it was more due to the old stuff. The carpet was full of stains. The shower in the room was useless due to the sloping walls. You had... More

We chose this hotel because of the wonderful building. The pictures looked wonderful. The room we got was in a back yard annex, not a beam in sight. We could not be moved to a better room as the hotel was 'full', though we didn't see another soul. The breakfast was the worst we have ever had in Germany. It... More

I stayed for two nights at the Ritter. Another average hotel, nothing special. Breakfast was good. Cleanliness generally ok, but lots of dust on top of picture frames, shelves etc. Internet is LAN only in the rooms, worked fine and they have LAN cables available. WIFI only in the lobby but I have not tried that. They also have a... More

I stay at the Ritter frequently for business, and it's always a pleasure to stay there. Expect no luxury, but very welcoming homely rooms, most rather spacious in one of Braunschweigs oldest buildings. Service is limited as there is no staff available during the night. Breakfast is normally quite good.

Everything was very good and the only improvement I would ask is for more written directions to walk or use the public transporatation. We walked from the train station using thier onsite map (2.8km) but as this is an old town, the streets tend to wander a bit. Room was huge with great windows overlooking the cobbled street. Breakfast was... More

It is possible for U.S. citizens to stay at a comfortable, well-located AND reasonably priced hotel in Germany despite the current unfavorable exchange rate! We received several hotel recommendations for Braunschweig from a local resident. Assuming any of these would be at least satisfactory, we chose the Ritter St. Georg based on price - 85 euro per night, taxes included,... More
