We enjoyed a refined meal of excellent preparation away from the UmPaPa in the street. Our meals included local in-season mushroom specialties in a quiet white table cloth & candlelight atmosphere. Fine local wine selection and very good service. Pricey.

Historical hotel with an impressive history, located right on the embankment of the river Rhine. Parking in the private inner courtyard. Very courteous, pleasant and helpful staff. A lavishly nicely furnished and carpeted room, with a beautiful bathroom, with a small en-suite, leading to a pleasant balcony. Because this hotel has no airco, it was rather hot and sticky. The... This hotel has had mixed reviews and we have stayed there for 4 days and there is a mixed ambience. So here is the list of Good and Bad having just spent 800+ Euros at this hotel... 1. The Good The location is excellent and being in Assmannshausen is far better than being in Rudeshiem. There are ferry docks just... More

Made advanced reservations here, but after seeing the torn carpet in the lobby and the smell in the room, decided not to stay. The building is old, many artifacts that seem interesting, but the place looks shabby. Also note that although they say they have internet, there is a 5 euro charge for 30 minutes use. Although if you are... More

This is a very old hotel that has many updates. The woodwork and stained glass are beautiful. The lobby is decorated with big gold framed chairs. The room was small but nicely down. You had to pay for the internet. The restaurant area was amazing with the grape vines overhead. You could catch the ferry to take you up and... More

I stayed here once before and wanted my wife to experience it. We had a junior suite with a Rhein view. The hotel is very old but kept beautifully. The suite was large and furnished nicely with old style furniture. The buffet breakfast was a bit disappointing for such an impressive place, but we loved the hotel. If I am... More

My husband and I stayed here three nights as part of a Germany vacation. Let me first day that the bed is so low it almost sits in the floor. This could be a real issue for older guests. Also, there is no elevator to get to the upper floors. The breakfast was good and the location is good. The... More

When we checked into our room we were impressed with the beautiful view of the river. We left for dinner and when we got back we returned to 15 black spiders on the ceilings and near the windows. The hotel staff said there is nothing they can do about them during this time of year - so be warned! I... More

Our family group of 4 adults stayed here after flying into Frankfurt from the USA. We received a friendly welcome upon checking in and had two junior suites in the annex. Both rooms had balconies and wonderful views of the Rhine. The annex building was loaded with antiques and the rooms were just what you would expect in Old World... More

This hotel is very beautiful and historic. Although I had booked our room far in advance, we were put in the annex. At first I was unimpressed with this, but this room was cool during the day and night, we had a private balcony and the room was huge! It also had a small kitchen. If traveling with a family... More
