This is actually a very good hotel although not in a location you'd expect, but don't be put off. There is a proper bar that serves the locals, there is a TV so is also a sports bar. The restaurant is clearly very popular with the locals as a steak house, although I had fish. The steaks look amazing and... More

Rooms are pretty large and very clean. Bathroom also quite large, and a lot of hot water from the shower. Atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. And not the usual two sachets of coffee but at least 10. Very nice in the morning. The bar is certainly not the average hotel-bar. It's also the place of entertainment for the local bruisers... More

We had reservations about staying here but it turned out to be a good decision. Our room was big, modern and comfortable (room 1), no complaints there. For breakfast you have to go out of the front door and up to the restaurant, the non-cooked options were limited but what was provided was good. From the cooked selection we opted... More

Stayed here a few weeks ago for one night travelling along the coast from John O'Groats to Ullapool. We were given a room at the front on the first floor. Room was basic, but large and very clean. We were worried that being on the main road across from the harbour would mean a lot of noise but we didn't... More

We stayed here twice during our recent UK driving tour, using it as a base to explore the NE corner of mainland Scotland and to access a car ferry to and from the Orkneys. Although it's an oldish hotel, it's been well maintained and improved, has loads of good character and is blessed with an abundance of staff who could... More

Stayed one night and was a great place to stay. Rooms clean and tidy. The restaurant was very good, food was excellent and had a very nice meal at night and a good quality breakfast. All the staff were really nice. Sat in the comfortable bar and watched and listen to the colourful locals, this is a fishing/ferry port! There... More

Well, when I read the reviews I thought that sounds really wonderful, sitting in the comfortable lounge bar having a quick drink before dinner. Unfortunately the bar was commandeered and dominated by this loud and filthy mouthed female friend of the staff and there is now way I would take my wife in there, let alone my dear mother-in-law. A... More

Stayed for work trip overnight. Staff nice and welcoming. Had a bar meal when I arrived which was good, I could of used the restaurant but as I was alone didnt bother so I cant comment on the quality in there. Good hearty breakfast the following morning. Ideal for the ferry to Orkney island, would use again if in that... More
