Went to the upper deck of ferry inn restaurant...Ordered haddock and chips....staff was really warm and lovely throughout...food plate arrived large haddock with chips and awful overboiled carrots n broccoli...the batter on the haddock was as thick as a brick!? And fish was overcooked...would not dine there again

Have stayed a few times for business - great rooms, friendly staff, good value, excellent food next door in the Upper Deck. Plenty of parking and a great breakfast, ideal base if you are going to Orkney.

I stayed in the Inn the night before catching the MV Hamnavoe over to Orkney. At first glance, it does not look promising. It has a pub and suffers from the modern affliction of people hanging around the entrance to the pub smoking (I do wish the law would impose a minimum distance). The hotel has a separate entrance and... More

Brill rooms, loads of parking, great food, staff are superb ..... Just enjoy your self. Stayed three nights doing the NC500. Day visit to Orkney. Foot passenger on the ferry and hired a car in Stromness....... Just the best.

I have eaten in the restaurant here a few times but have never stayed as the rooms are generally booked up. I had booked over the internet and got a better price than some other local hotels which claim to be better. The receptionist was very pleasant when I checked in and I was dealt with quickly, I was in... More

All the rooms are upstairs - no lift. We were up on the 2nd floor. Odd arrangement for the bathroom, toilet and shower in a little anti room, wash basin in the bedroom. Having said that the beds were comfortable and we had a lovely view of the harbour, where the fishing boats are docked. The evening meal in the... More

Whilst the Ferry Inn looks a little plain from outside the rooms are spacious, well maintained and comfortable. There are nice touches such as normal and fruit tea bags along with biscuits (don't usually get much more than 1 teabag in one well know chain!). Although its odd to have to step outside to reach the restaurant the food is... More

Stayed here on way to orkney. The room was very nice and had everything you would need, and the was comfy. Evening meal in the bar good, but you have to go out to the upper deck for breakfast which was good and had a view over Scrabster. Would stay again

Right next to the terminal for ferries to Orkney. Pleasant staff. Clean, quiet room, though, as so often in UK, up stairs. Bar meals fine. Prepared to organise early breakfast in restaurant next door.

Overall the hotel us great value for money. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The restaurant is in a great location on the second floor overlooking the harbour. The food is absolutely fantastic. I had the best rump steak I have ever had. The service was excellent and was matched by great service again at breakfast. A really good choice... More
