We stayed here for a couple of nights after coming in off a very long flight. The hotel was exactly what we needed - clean, excellent value, close to the main station and very comfortable. The hotel's free minibar (with beer!) and an excellent breakfast were distinct bonuses. Our room faced the main road and was quite noisy, which was... More

The location is indeed very central, which is a double-edge sword. It's across the street from the main train station, but the surrounding area is noisy, filthy and unpleasant. I wouldn't stay in this area unless I had to. I am happy I decided to ask to see a room before I committed. I was given a key to a... More

The hotel is opposite the Hauptbahnhof, but wasn't noisy. Also within walking distance of the main tourist sights. Our room was adequate although furniture a bit tired. There is a free minibar. The bar contains soft drinks, water and a couple of bottles of beer. There is also free tea, coffee, cake and fruit in reception in the afternoon. Also... More

Arrived in evening after an 13 hours long-haul flight, excluding the tiring half-day layover time, from Singapore. Hotel is easy to access from airport as it is situated right opposite the Frankfurt train station. Another reason is due to the ease of picking up the rental car next morning. Hotel's exterior looks a bit rundown, however the efficiency of the... More

Arrived late in the evening, after 30 hour's in flight ,person at the reception by the name of Janana expected me to rectify a double booking problem they had with booking.com threatening me I would be charged twice for my stay, after a lengthy discussion with this arrogant person he agreed to make a phone call, and rectify the situation .... Staid here in July when it was very hot,so the lack of Air con wasn't as welcomed as the free mini Bar or the varied Breakfast. Would stay here again and have no problem recommending others to do likewise.

First impression when arriving was that it looked a little tired (just like us after our trip). However the friendly and efficient staff eased our minds when checking in. Travelling with our teenage daughter can be difficult as she is not at ease staying in her own room when travelling in foreign places so we were delighted to have a... More

If you work on the premise that you get what you pay for, this hotel is a steal, representing outstanding value for money, I won't go over the pluses already mentioned but would also mention the unusual feature of being able to Check in at Noon (we got there at 11.00 and were allowed to go to our room) and a... I have often stayed at the hotels near the rail station in Frankfurt because of the convenience. The service has always been good but the reason I stop booking at the Excelsior is that it's a big hotel with just one elevator which is a problem if you have luggage. The breakfast is good and a good variety.
