What you see is what you get. Unpretentious and basic, but doesn't claim to be anything else, so represents good value for money. Rooms are smallish but comfortable and clean. Location is excellent, just a minute's walk from the Binnen Alster, with U-Bahn station round the corner. If you want a simple but clean and convenient hotel in Central Hamburg... More

The Hotel Oper is a cheap and cheerful hotel in a great central location in Hamburg. The room was tiny, really tiny; and the bathroom is minscule; but being less than 250m from the waterfront, and with a parking garage, this was a great value stay in Hamburg. There's no views, no in-room fridge or coffee-making etc, but there's dozens... More

We stayed at this hotel in December 2006 and our experience left me quite surprised at some of the other reviews. We were travelling on a budget so wanted somewhere cheap (but clean) to stay in the centre of Hamburg, which is quite a dificult task. The hotel is a little old fashioned in terms of the decor and strangely... More

It is well located, without any doubt. But that is the only positive thing I can say! We asked specifically for a non-smoking room since we live in a civilized european country where people respect non-smokers. But there was smoke coming inside our room all the time since smoking areas are located just outside the "non-smoking rooms". Not only am... More

We have just returned from a two night stay at this hotel. We booked two twin rooms for four ladies on a shopping trip. When we arrived at hotel, they did not have our reservation. When I presented a copy of emailed receipt from the hotel, I was told that the website was not working at the moment, but that... More

Can't beat the location, - thought, I''d start with the positive side. Call me spoiled but there was nothing complimentary: no soap, shampoo, showercap, hairdryer. The bathroom (and the room itself) was very spacious, - but there was no place to put your personal belongings on. And there was a funny smell in the room (but I think it was... More

I paid €159 for 3 nights without breakfast at Hotel Oper after booking on the HRS website. My first impression was that the building looked rather old and that the sign outside hadn't been cleaned for a while. The rooms are on two floors, neither of which is served by the lift. The lift stops at a landing between the... More

I stayed at the Oper Hotel in Hamburg (I am not quite sure if the property is in the TOP group as stated on Tripadvisor) between 23-24/10 2006 for a business meeting in Hamburg. I payed 55 euro for a single room (breakfast is an extra 11 euro). I booked at the hotel website and although I didn't receive a... More

we have just returned from a two night stay at the oper hotel. the hotel if basic and very clean the only downside is the breakfast for 11 euro`s its very disappointing with limited food, thers a bakery near the subway which is better for brakfast. for the 86 euro price for two nights what we paid this hotel is... Don't be put off by appearances when arriving at this hotel, as from outside it does look a bit shabby. Even inside this hotel had a feel of being stuck in the seventies, but the staff were very friendly and helpful and the room, despite being small, had everything you could need and was clean and airy. We even managed... More
