This historic-building hotel is just in the middle of downtown Hamburg (in a quiet area) which enables you to reach most attractions by foot. We parked our car at Messehallen free of charge and explored the city and surroundings riding our bicycles (you can rent bike for 7,5 a day at local dealers e.g. in Altona). The rooms are equipped... more

I enjoyed a pleasant 2 night stay at the renaissance which is located on a small square (chich can be noisy at night) close to most parts of the city that a visitor will need to visit. There are a variety of room size for varying prices - I was booked into a small room but upgraded to a larger... more

Our 3 day weekday hotel stay was booked via Priceline for a very reasonable price. I had to call the hotel directly to confirm my room preferences and had absolutely no problems. Location: Approx 300 meters from the Außenalster (small Alster Lake). It's central to the shopping district and the metro is a five minute walk. Check-in: Our experience with... more

I was in Hamburg for one night on business. I stayed here because it was handy for the airport and the train stations, although I got taxis in the end. Taxis are quite chepa, certainly by comparison to Netherlands. Hamburg town centre is stunningly beautiful and I was fortunate to be there during a hot day, so there were plenty... more

I stayed here in May during an incredible stretch of good weather. The high ceiling room with large windows made the room quite sunny and appealing when I needed to stay in and work. The only down side was the noisy street below. However with the windows closed, one could sleep fairly well. Would not recommend this hotel to light... more

The location of the Renaissance is wonderful for shopping and touring Hamburg. It's in the midst of shopper's paradise with a wealth of shops of all varieties and price range within walking distance. My friend and I went up for a weekend, spent Saturday shopping and Sunday touring. And contrary to some opinions, there are plenty of sales available, even... more

This hotel has been refurbished since I was there last year and is truly a great hotel and very cheap too. The reception area is now really nice. Staff are excellent - very helpful re: booking cabs, payments, even doing my online flight check in for me. I have stayed here a few times over the last few weeks and... more

I booked an awards stay at the Renaissance. Having stayed there many times before I was interested to see how the refurb of the ground floor had gone. On the whole I was very impressed with the new areas. The bar in the main part of the ground floor was very nice and always busy. My main compleint is that... more

My wife & I used this hotel for a visit to the Hamburg Christmas markets. About a week before our trip they emailed us asking for any special requests. From previous experience of German hotels I asked for extra pillows. When we arrived we found that the 2 double beds had a total of 13 pillows! The first night of... more

I stayed at the Renaissance 2 night on early November, after having booked a double room sole use through the site hamburg-tourism.de at a very reasonable rate. Let me say this is a great hotel. The area is a must for people who love strolling and shopping along the "golden triangle" including Jungfernstieg (which is the nearest underground station), Neuer... more
