This review is for the Apartment, not the hotel First of all, in the interest of sharing a few handy tips, if you are flying into Berlin Schonefeld (SXF) and staying at Tom's then you want to head to 'Nollendorf Platz'. Requires a few trains and changes but its relatively painless and cheap. From the Airport take the S9 towards... More

Stayed for a long weekend 2nd-6th July 2015 group of six booked two apartments they suited what we needed had no issues balcany meant we could sit out and have a drink before heading out or eat breakfast on, close to small supermarket for milk etc, just a few feet from most of the gay bars we would book these... It's funny the way this hotel markets itself, when the reality is quite different. When my friend, who is a Berliner, picked me up from the airport, and I told him where I was staying, his face dropped, and he said why on earth did you book that hotel. The room is tired, cheap looking, with plastic furniture and is... More

Been to Berlin few times and this time i thought i should give gay hotel a go and it was a bad choice Room smells of cigarette - so bad that first night i slept with window open even though it was cold. It's part of the building so you will share entrance with others - front desk isnt open... More

We stayed at Tom's Hotel in Berlin in April 2015, and the first thing that hits you is how shabby it is. The rooms and the hotel desperately need upgrading. The biggest problem is the state of the rooms. The carpets, furniture, and fixtures and fittings are old and in need of changing. The rooms weren't that clean either (light... More

The room was extremely small, carpet didn't look very clean and toilette minute! Woke up at 6am thinking that there was fire in the building, to find out it was cigarette-smoking coming from within the building, apparently a normal occurrence at Tom's. I specifically asked for a non-smoking floor and room, instead was given a dungeon! Opened the window to... More

I have had a great stay at the Tom's Hotel - It was the third time I had the chance to stay in this charming hotel, and like the previous times, I was very happy of my stay. The owner Tim has been very nice and helpful, so as the rest of the staff. My room on the 3rd floor... More

I just returned from a trip to Berlin and stayed at Tom's Apartments in Schöneberg. The apartment was on the ground floor. It was very clean, tidy and accessible. Excellent value for money and close to all the local bars. My only quibble was the speed of the internet which was very slow. Other than that, I very much enjoyed... More

I booked Tom's hotel for my trip to Berlin. Booking was easy and communication from staff was great. A day or so before my arrival I had a confirmation email which also included directions and also various suggestions for getting to the hotel from the airport. Upon arrival I went to reception and I was warmly greeted by Gianmarco. He... More

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighborhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the center of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the center of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
