More Hostel than Hotel, but the location is perfect for the younger Berlin Tourist. If you get a room in the 7th floor view to Alexanderplatz, you have a cool view on the awakening Berlin. The surroundings are perfect for hanging round, eating, party is a little bit away.

Hotel room was nice with basic amenities and clean bathroom. Paid for breakfast which was simple (no eggs but had other usual breakfast items). The hotel is a comfortable 20min walk from Alexanderplatz station which was convenient for airport transfers (both TXL bus & trains to Schonefeld airport). Not close to main sights so a day train ticket is useful.

We have stayed at other Meininger hotels and thought they were great. Because of the inclusion of the Hostel we didn't enjoy it. Maybe this should be reflected in the price. Breakfast was like a chimps tea party, needless to say we walked straight out and asked for our money back! Staff were ok (as you would expect) although we... More

Dear Guest, At first I like to thank you that you took your time to write this honest review. We are really sorry that your stay was not how you expected. I could assure that we know that our wifi connection sometime makes problems. At the moment we are getting a new wireless LAN and I'm sure the problem is... More

Generally, a hostel value for money especially for students and backpackers alike. Comfortable, clean, warm, friendly staff and everything you'd expect from a decent hostel. The kitchen was also clean and convenient with kettles available for boiling water, pots and pans for cooking and even spices and herbs were provided. But, on my first night here I was utterly abhorred... More

Staff were rude and did very little to make us feel welcome. The internet was shocking and when asked whether the internet would be fixed the girl at the desk just shrugged her shoulders and said it wasn't her problem. The shower was atrocious and the bunk beds were nearly falling apart. Going as a big group of students to... More

Hello Emily, Thank you for writing your honest opinion about your stay with us. We are sorry for the unconvinience, weak wifi and unpolite staff, as you describe. Our wifi is quiet slow the more people are using it at once. A complete renovation of our house is planed for the younger future. That everything will be new again. We... More

Firstly, the staff were far from welcoming. As a huge group of students we brought a large amount of money into the hostel but felt like a nuisance from the moment we entered the hostel. Several people had their rooms robbed, how that's possible is beyond me. I'm surprised I'm able to write this review as the wifi is never... More

It was definitely the best hostel I ever stayed. Although I've spent here only one night, I'd recommend it to anyone. The room was clean and nicely equipped, the price was reasonable and the staff was really friendly. I'll stay here if I ever visit Berlin again.

When it comes to accommodation, Meininger Hotels are always my first choice in Germany. Though this branch is not as good as the one in Brussels / the HBF one, I think this also live up to my expectation. It's just 2 stops from Alexanderplatz which means it is close to the malls. The staff here are very helpful in... More

This is the 6th school trip to Germany I've run, though the first to Berlin, and this is the best hostel we've stayed in. Location is ideal. Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
