I stayed 11 days/nights at the ApartHotel Residenz am Deutschen Theater, in a so-called Business Apartment. I was in Berlin for the Berlinale film festival. To that purpose the location was excellent. It took for instance only a 5 minutes walk to Friedrichstadt Palast, where more than half of the screenings took place for which I had tickets. Similarly, I... More

Best family apartment in Berlin. Location is 5-7 minute walk maximum from Friedrichstr and Hauptbanhof, easy walk to Brandenburger Tor and a couple of grocery stores and nice restaurants within a block. The bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen are large providing lots of space for a family of 4-6 easily. The family room included 2 TVs, a washing machine and entrance... More

This Hotel is well located within easy walkind distance of Freirichstraße and Oranien Tor U-Bahn stations. The accommodation was fantastic, if a little pricey, and perfect for a relaxing week wandering around the German Capital. The Hotel Staff were very helpful and all spoke good English and made us feel particularly welcome. The Breakfast was first class and plentiful. This... More

We chose the ApartHotel for a 3-night visit to Berlin with our children. Not used to hotels, the ApartHotel gave them the private space to feel at home and unwind after a day's sightseeing. A decent breakfast was included. The apartment was clean (and cleaned daily) and well equipped. The fittings were high quality and everything worked. We stayed in... More

Just returned from a trip to Berlin with my wife and family. We stayed here for 4 nights and were well pleased. We'd booked online and arrived late, after the reception had closed - not a problem - follow the instructions on the door and the automatic machine delivers your room key. The apartments are located in various adjacent buildings,... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
