Elefant is in the very centre of Berlin and additionally 3 minutes from the nearest metro station. We were 3 persons and we stayed in one big, beautiful room. The host are just lovely, caring and very professional. They even bake their own bread for you for breakfast! The price was astonishingly low. We had a wondeful stay and will... More

I stayed at the Pension Elefant along with my two daughters last December. Our stay was for 4 nights while we visited the wonderful Christmas Markets. The room itself was very spacious, warm and tastefully decorated. The view from the window was looking out onto the street, and overall it was very quiet both inside as well as outside. The... More

We stayed for a second time in one of the apartments around the corner from the Pension itself. It was warm, clean and charmingly furnished. The location is great for metro transport and shopping and also perfect for anyone who fancies the gay scene in Berlin. The owners are easy to deal with and very helpful and friendly. There is... Stayed here many times and always been well looked after by our hosts...it's reassuring to see the standard of our first trip approximately 9 or 10 years ago has not dropped - great location, excellent value and totally comfortable - looking forward to returning :-)

The reviews gave me high expectations of Pension Elefant and I wasn't disappointed. I booked our stay as part of a four night break for my husband and I with our two year old daughter. The Pension itself is very well located and a little piece of Berlin history. One of few buildings in the area not to be destroyed... More

We booked this pension not knowing Berlin so we relied on the trip advisor community to give us guidance. Wrong choice for once. The room was OK (spacious) but the building was completely outdated/outworn. The king size bed was actually two single beds put together (with separate linen). The bathroom was not clean. And this part of Berlin is not... More

We spent three night at Elefant and it is a great place to stay. Well located to get around Berlin. The host was friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone staying in Berlin. Also had the extras which you don't get in many hotels any more of a kettle and free wifi.

This review is over a year due. My daughter and I stayed here July of 2013, with the same owners as now. It speaks for itself that our stay is still a marvelous and vivid memory. Pension Elefante is perfectly located two blocks from the main shopping street in Berlin, and one block from a main station U-Bahn stop. We... More

We have spend 5 nights at the Elefant. To be honest this is one of the best stays weve encountered, and we travel a lot. The Elefant has a perfect location, smackbang in the middle of the gay village of Berlin, but quit so no troubles sleeping at night. The owner was on a holiday in Spain, but the guy... More

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighborhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the center of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the center of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
