Really shocking that staff at a hotel do not speak English! I've tried contacting them on 4 occassions, spoke to 2 different people, one male and one female and neither of them could speak English. The male was even condescending when I voiced my surprise that they weren't able to. Who pays their salary........surely guests?!

I've stayed there for a night during a business trip. As it was a fairly last minute, decision on hotel had to be made quick and this seemed to be good value for the location. Unfortunately I have to say that I can think of several youth hostels that would have been more comfy and better equipped. Rooms are more... More

We booked Hotel Comenius based on the good recommendation from a friend of ours. It's well located with good customer service, friendly and ready to assist you. The place is clean, and the breakfast is very correct. Sometimes loud because of the neighbourhood but our visit has been a real pleasure, we had fun!

Fantastic single room, the staff were really friendly and the bathroom, while it wasn't connected to the room, was lockable and only shared between three rooms, so essentially private. Great location with at least 30 great bars and restaurants within 10 minutes walk. Really enjoyed my stay here!

We stayed here on a trip travelling around Europe between 18th June and 21st June 2014. We found the hotel easily (a short walk from the U-bahn and S-bahn). When we arrived we buzzed our way in, walked across a small square and up some stairs to the reception. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English. We were... More

For a small hotel in Friedrichshain this hotel is good enough. The room was clean and the breakfast was good. There where enough toiletries and such so no complaining there. The staff was a bit grumpy though. We had a room overlooking the inner courtyard and there where children playing there in the early morning hours which wasn't that enjoyable.

Everything is basic but really okay. Was given a single with a nice balcony and ppl at reception helped me with some pages i needed to print. Very kind staff! Bathroom was tiny tiny and walls to hallway seem very thin so you can hear lots of movement in the morning...

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
