We stayed here for a new nights at the end of November to meet up with family and visit the Christmas markets. The hotel was spotlessly clean, our room was very spacious and although our room was at the front on the main street, we could not hear the traffic. The breakfast was amazing, with so much choice and very... More

We booked this hotel to celebrate New Year in Berlin. We had a suite and the hotel was quite amazing, as stated in the books - the hotel is very much a modern 'design' hotel. The room was spacious and wonderful and felt like a huge apartment. The location was perfect literally a street away from the famous department t... More

Nice, friendly and very helpful staff. Hotel is located on one of the main streets. Berlin is really beautiful during Christmas. Hotel has a nice old school vibe but also very classy. Staff was interested in our stories and try to connect with us. We were very lucky to get a free room upgrade. The room was bigger than my... More

Located in a prime shopping and dining out district with easy access to the U-Bahn network, the Ellington offers stylishly modern accommodation to Berlin visitors. Those seeking more traditionally styled rooms should look elsewhere, as the rooms are minimalistic and light. Aside from some retro tiled theming near the lifts, the hotel’s styling is fairly stark. Some might also find... More

We spent a view days here over Easter. The Hotel is a good location and quiet. As you would expect in the name it has a 1920/30's feel of high society, before things changed for ever. The service was efficient and friendly. The rooms were pleasant and clean.

Besides all the other issues, staff was very unpolite. This is Berlin, cheapest big city in Germany but these guys are overpricing everything. Internet sucks and it is free only for one hour and one device; water in the room costs 5 EUR for 35 ml and the bottle has a big tag saying "Buy me". In addition when leaving... More

Clean room, however toilets smelt of cigarettes for the entire duration of the stay (3 nights). Room price was good however the bar prices are too expensive. Located in a good area. Their dinner looks ok, but prices at the bar drove me away. Value for money is pretty average.

We stayed for 3 nights. The location is so so. I should have listened to the advise of the reviews of some other traveler. He was right. It's super weird, the shower did not have a wall, so it was open to the room. Not just the lack of privacy but the humidity from the shower inside the room. All... More

The hotel inside looks like an old hospital. The standard room is very small, the windows are looking to the noisy street, and you can not sleep. I asked to change the room and they charged me additional 10 Euro for other room. The second room had a view to the car parking lot. The bathroom is inside the room.... More

I booked through secret escapes and requested a Superior room . We in fact appeared to be in a Standard room according to the picture in the hotel brochure. The room was not as big as our friends room which was Superior. The staff were very sweet and the breakfast which was included was excellent. We minded very much having... More

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighborhood Profile
Schoneberg
In 1963, Schöneberg was the center of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the center of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
